  • I love my CAAD10.
I just can't afford to run campagnolo 11 speed as spares are so pricey and I don't make the $$$ to make it economical. I also reckon the Ultegra may suit the caad10 a little better.
So I splurged on an Ultegra 6800 groupset (spend a large amount of money now in the hope it will slowly save me some over the next couple of years use)

Shimano don't make a bb30 compatible bottom bracket so I went for a Praxis bb30 converter. It looks pretty impressive and should hopefully do the trick silently.
I also bought a new freehub to convert the wheels to shimano.

So currently it's built with Campagnolo Athena 11 speed which I intend on selling to offset the cost of the Ultegra. (PM me if you might be interested)

I think I have everything and hopefully in about a week the build will commence when I am back from a trip to Scotland.

@Dick will be helping me take it to pieces and build it up in its new form so it will probably be done in one short evening (we know how quick he likes to work).

  • Sram or Shimano on Cannondale. Campag doesn't look right. I think you made the right decision!

  • Thanks, yeah! I think so.
I've had the caad10 since about September last year but had the campy groupset from another bike which I did a transfer from. So it was a case of that's what I had at the time but yeah. Hoping it will look a lot better with the Ultegra.

    I beg to differ...

  • ^ NDS fail.

  • ^ NDS fail.

Well i tried flipping the picture but I still couldn't see the cranks...

  • Il give you a better idea of exactly how sick that looks without the stupid star spangled banner bollocks:

    And on the drive side

    And with shimano

  • Any excuse to post that rad build...

Yeah I like the look of campagnolo but I think due to its more "classic" looking aesthetic it doesn't look so good on a slightly more modern frame like the caad10. Maybe in black but I went for silver when I bought it... =[

  • Came home today to a lovely box of Ultegra.
I now have everything I need for the build.
Unfortunately I am off to Scotland for the weekend on Friday...
I intend on getting this built up ASAP when I return!

  • (Apologies @Fignon that sounded needlessly aggressive and wasn't intended to be!)

  • And it's done!
Still faffing with the front mech but the rest is reet!
Thanks to @Dick for the help with the BB installation.
Looking forward to a midweek ride once I eliminate this chain rub in the 52/11-12.
Probably done the cables a little short but I can't stand messy routing and it's not messing with the turning.

  • Where Is spinergy??

  • Very nice. What Hubs are you running?

  • Huh? I don't own any?
The blue cannondale was owned by @Dick

  • Thanks! They are Novatec. something-SL.
The front is great, the rear is ok...

I think I need to grab an inline cable adjuster for the front mech cable.
The first click of the shifter doesn't seem to move the mech at all.
(Despite pulling the cable through with pliers...)

  • looks good

  • Now to give yourself neck ache......

  • yes pete, looks rad. shimano all the way.

  • Should I acetone off the 3T logos on the stem and seatpost? I feel a little logoverwhelmed...

  • No, looks sweet. White logos go with those on the frame and forks.

How's the Praxis convertor working out for you? Considering the same set-up.

  • Just got back from a quick 50km spin. The bike felt amazing. The praxis converter was dead easy to install (with the right tools) and on the couple of climbs I did tonight (small climbs) there wasn't a single noise from the bb. A real nice solution. Better than the adapter plugs I reckon.

  • Still faffing with the front mech but the rest is reet!

Just tighten the cable a lots more than you think, and make sure the cable run through the derailleur.

  • Yeah! Surprising how much tension it needs to work correctly. The lbs showed me a trick. Set the limit screw when the chain is on the 4th from biggest sprocket then set cable tension and then reset the limit screw and when the mech slacks off it tightens the cable up more. Seems to work. Was spot on during tonight's spin.
