Hi smarch, I'm afraid this is provisionally sold to @sacredhart. He's collecting Monday.
Sorry I should have updated the thread.
You have 2nd dibs though if anything changes.
For sale is my girlfriend's Dawes debutante. It's a 1980's bike and all original apart from the bar tape, tyres, rear mech and chain which are relatively new additions. Only really selling it because it has been replaced with a Jack Taylor Mixte!
When we bought it a couple of years ago it had been barely used, just sat in a garage. Since then it has seen a tour of the isle of Arran and general use about town.
It's made from Dawes' own tubing - it's not reynolds but definitely not gas pipes either. It has fitting for mudguards and a rear rack. It has some nice details - engraved handlebars and original shop stickers. Even the pedals are Dawes branded.
It's 51cm centre of BB to top and has 27" wheels. The drive drain is 5 speed with a simplex friction shifter. Rear mech is a basic shimano mech and it has a relatively new KMC chain. Brakes are Weinmann side pulls.
Some of the rough bits:
-Superficial rust where it has been scraped here or there. See the pictures - I think it could be touched up.
-rusting to the bottom of the headset. Just the lower race where the road grime has attacked it. Headset seems to function fine.
-The rear rack was bent to accommodate a more modern rear brake and is now rusting since the
chrome has flaked off in this area.
-Standard scuffs to the bar tape where it has been leaned on walls.
-The wheels have old steel rims and steel spokes. The rims rattle. They do for about town but could do with replacing.
-The wheels could do with truing up.
-Could do with a clean.
Pictures are on my google drive here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bwidx-T59QclfmpXenA2REpWeTFrLVBRMlBmdE0yWTA3M3U1NEtxcUZZUU5acnlWd2hXdWs&authuser=0
I'm after £80.
Collection from Oakwood tube station on the top of the Picadilly line on Mon-Thurs evenings.
EDIT: that's not the original saddle but I have it in a box somewhere. Let me know if you prefer the original but it's nothing special.
