Are the decals stencilled? The headtube is quite something. What tubing is it?
-
• #14
Hi Ghostface ,
yes all stencilled but some slight lack of clarity to edges black with gold drop shadow . Paint isn't flip flop pearl it is just sprayed blue over silver in quite accurate fade. Painted by Broggio -says "email Broggio" on downtube -email is French for enamel.
Tubing is Reynolds 653 which is not a type of tubing but a tube set composed of 531 comp (I think ) and 753 chain and seat stays. -

More slave that anything else I'd say, but man is it going to be nice! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Broggio is still around and painting bikes among other things but would seem less active than in the 80s, there are a huge number of Broggio painted frames around from then painted with great fades, fluo colour schemes, particularly those from builders/shops in the Ile de France area. My Broggio painted Gillen has the same stencilled black on gold logo as yours, right down to the fuzzy edges.

I like the Gillen Tychom. Nice to see pics with the bike on your travels -where?
I will prob use the Paris-Tours for some summer days out etc -
• #18
That's in Ashikaga.
There's a good chance it too is a Paris-Tours as it has the same frame details as a number of others I've seen. Cycles Gillen and Paris-Tours were both in the same suburb, Montreuil and they almost certainly had there hand in others such as this bad boy .
Might be obvious but a gorgeous Paris-Tours like yours is high on my to get list :)

Japan certainly is a beautiful country.
The Gillen is pretty much identical to the Paris-Tours with that seat tube arrangement.
The Paris-Tours premises is now a cafe I believe.
It's difficult to find info apart from this :- http://veloretrocourse.proboards.com/thread/987/paris-tours -

Now Paris-Tours not yet finished and I have accidentally acquired a Simoncini lo pro which I really like -question is which to keep? only got room for one of them.
Here is the Paris-Tours I bought on this forum from Bellabici (very highly recommended seller )
It is quite a relaxed build (I normally rush these things) .
I am aiming for nice components , ones that I know work well but not a complete matched groupo. And not nos mint because a few tiny marks already on bits and I won't be worried about using it as it should be used .
So far:-
Dura Ace 7400 gear ensemble - 7 speed indexed.
Mavic Starfish chainset (632)
Mavic CXP 30 on Sachs New Success (radial front)
Flite Titanium.
Cinelli Top66 Ergo bars
ITM 120mm Steel stem
Gotta sort brakes, seat post , etc
