Croft's Condor Professional

  • Sold my fixed gear bikes a few years ago to go full roadie douchebag. Been recently wanting something to just hack around to the shops and stuff and when I saw this condor in my friend's cafe/shop for a nice price I snagged it.

Plans: DA x Mavic Open Sport, Flite, Risers, Sugino RD2, 48x17.

    Channeling this.

  • pretty serious build

to just hack around to the shops and stuff

  • A few marginally nicer photos ahead of some parts showing up tomorrow.
Also spoke to Condor who told me the frame is a "Professional", built in 1990, using cast lugs. The track ends are Columbus.

  • I love my Condor 'lo pro/pursuit/whatever'. You should really enjoy that one too, good luck with the build.

  • Banging frame, now I know what you're up to ;-)

  • Lug and bottom bracket detail is on point, looks mint for a 25 year old frame.

    Sub'd.

  • Rear wheel doesn't fit the ends on one side. Looks like I need to go to a framebuilder/shop to get them to open up and straighten the openings. Bit of a setback.

  • That sucks. Is it not spaced correctly or is there not enough space in the track end for the axle to clear?

  • Is it not spaced correctly or is there not enough space in the track end for the axle to clear?

  • Both actually. Drive side track end seems to bend in a little and axle does not quite clear. Bit shit.

  • Sounds like you need to take out the file >:)

  • File, hammer, adjustable spanner and some Dutch courage should straighten that out!

Or pay someone who knows what they're up to. I have knocked a few rears into shape(ooo errr) but never on anything as fancy as this fine frame..
Hopefully it's just the track ends not the rear triangle that's out of true.

  • Found a local frame builder so may go that way rather than messing with it.

  • Classy!

  • Weighed some stuff.

    Forks: 635
    Frame: 1630
    BB + Cranks: 918
    Headset: 114
    Chain (uncut): 314
    Rear wheel w/cog + lockring: 1067
    Front wheel: 908

  • Looks nice
    Will make a good beater.

  • Lol love how much flak you're copping for your wording Alex. Looks beautiful and can't wait to see it in full.

  • I'm just a right tosser.

  • Headset fitted, track ends sorted and frame realigned by Doug Pinkerton.

Great little shop and looks to be a great framebuilder - might get in touch for a winter road frame sometime.

  • What shop?

    Lovely frame

  • I can't believe I just posted that. Just re read your post. I'm very tired.

  • Pics to come @HoKe
Turns out the tubing is 531, according to Doug. Does this make sense if the ends are clearly marked Columbus?

  • Pow-pow.

  • Getting somewhere with this - got some drop bars and stem today plus a nice old flite. Gonna build with two levers, front brake for my commute and general Regents Park spins etc. Rear clearance is super tight with a fully pumped 23c conti 4seasons.

Hoping to be done for the weekend. Need: seatpost, 18t fixed cog, caliper.
