seems the name is an amalgamation of zullo and chesini!
"Michael and list, and Zullo-fans!
I just spoke to John van Herwerden, and am now able to shed some light on
these matters (and to correct my original assumptions!).
The beautiful Van Herwerden bike that was on ebay a while ago (and sold for
a good price, wow!!!http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3D320420645482&ssPageName=
=3DSTRK:MEWAX:IT
)was either build by Zullo or by Chesini. Both is possible, Van Herwerden
worked with both builders. Next, the brand name Zullini was a name that Van
Herwerden came up with, a combination of 'Zullo' and 'Chesini' (obviously).
Even the font of the name Zullini is the same as the font of Van Herwerden.
It seems every reputable Dutch (or Belgian for that matter) bikeshop was in
need of an Italian sounding name for its house brands ... Remember Paganini
for the Plum Vainqueur shop in Gent, Belgium?" -

You are right saarf. Some Van Herwerden frames came from Zullo. Also Reynolds 531 frames made by "Witte Ko" in Holland and a few from Belgium builders in the early days. Van Herwerden has imported Chesini frames to Holland for years. The same for Alan frames. Theh have very good contact in Italy. Other bikeshops choose Italian sound names but put the decals on mass produced Belgium frames. The Zullini's are real Italian build. I visit the shop in the late 80ties and was shocked about the huge stock in frames and parts. Have 2 van Herwerden bikes and 1 Chesini in my own collection. Love them!

I forget his name, be he's one of the most unassuming people i had the pleasure of meeting, a Gentleman, i actually bought a Zullo of him the first time i met him, then bumped into him again unexpectedly selling him a part or two at the vintage Haarlem ride, think i said when I heard the number 75
"that's a pension scheme!" )
SOLD
Zullini is a brand sold by Van Herwerden from Voorburg Holland. But these rare frames are hand made in late 80ties by the exclusive builders of Chesini in Italy. Once you have seen a Chesini you know this is one too. Specialy the Aero forks, loads of chrome, panto details and panto head badge are equal to the Chesini branded frames. This Super Strada frame is in used condition with some usual chips and marks but still has it's class. Unfortunately the top tube has a big chip/scratch on the right side of the tube (see photo). Ofcourse possible to touch up (easy colour for nail polish...) or cover it with a sticker if you like. i did not do because i miss time. There is also a very tiny dent on the tube when you have very close look (hard to see on the photo) but nothing serious. The chrome is still shiny with a few small spickels only. Rare basis for a classy steel bike.
Size: seat tube: 61cm (c-t)
top tube: 59cm (c-c)
rear spacing: 126mm
needs ITA bb and 27.2 mm seat post.
