Track bike advice please, £1000

  • Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a track bike but can use on the road aswell, I've never ridden track but very much so want to get into it, will buy rollers aswell. (I would be down herne hill this summer if I wasn't going to Ghana).

My budget is £1000 give or take as just received a bonus from work so why not invest in a bike as currently ride a Reynolds 531 falcon and life's too short to ride shit bikes. I've been searching the internet for months looking at what I could get, I like the look of the Cinelli's but are they any good? Also the Look 464 looks great. But where's good to buy from? As the velodromeshop looks a bit odd to me. The Condor Lavoro also looks good, but have seen some bad reviews about the strength of the condor frames. Are planet X any good as there's a sale on atm, but would riding that on the streets of London lead it to crack?

So would love to hear advice from you guys of what to get, or even if you have a decent bike/frame I'm looking to buy. I'm 6ft 2 so have had 60cm bikes, but 58cm with a 120 stem should be on point.

    Joel

  • Been riding on a Planet X on the streets for a few months, hopping about and skidding etc. with no issues. It is stiff as you would imagine tough. That's my two pennies' worth.
