  • Just picked up another lo pro frame today, another 24" front. Bit of an impulse buy after three back to back 12 hour shifts, was so tired I had to squint at the screen to look at the bike. Anyway it's beautifully made fillet brazed and re-finished by the original builder. The paint work is superb and the detail on the frame and forks is stunning.

    Some pics.

I will be building this at a fairly slow pace as I have to source quite a few parts so will get some pics of the build as I go.

  • Suhubed

  • Really nice fillets on this..Looks a quality frame for sure.

  • Full shot you tease!

    AX?

  • ^ Yup DA AX, the ex TDF lo pro I have is going for a respray in a couple of weeks, after I came off it just before christmas. So I have a few bits from that build to use, off work now for a couple of days so going to see what I can get hold of.

    Andy

  • Just picked these up from the bay.

    Andy

  • Some pics of the whole bike as is at the mo. It,s an MB Cycles, Dronfield, Yorkshire. Built by Andy Middlemiss and Vernon Barker, some time in the 80,s. Vernon is still building today I believe, I will give them a call to find out more about this frame.

The bars and brakes are not finished yet, going to wait until I get the cranks then have a sort out. Still undecided on the brake set up not sure about keeping the 600,s or going for the DA AX to match the rest, (bloody decisions)

    Andy

  • Damn, that's mint!

AX stoppers for the arroz: dat rear brake cable exit.

  • hot

  • "wolf whistles"

  • Cheers guys couldn't let it go, I was not planning on another build for a while what with the Concorde just finished and KG186 just waiting the brifter,s from Portugal. But what the hell I have a pretty tolerant wife and an OCD nature hehe.

    Andy

  • Very nice frame you have there, I had one just like that the other day, LoL. Very knowledgeable man, very nice to have met you. I know of a Clamont frame you would like....... just teasing.

  • ^ purchased from this gentleman, thanks and yes first dibs on the Clamont

    Andy

  • hahaha don't believe this
^this gentleman just beat me to buying this. I had my fingers crossed all day that you wouldn't want it.
^^very good seller, bought some brake levers instead of the frame I was coveting

  • ^ That was my second bite at that cherry, you can have first dibs but its a beautiful frame and I can't see myself parting with it.

Yeah great seller and a really nice chap to talk to as well as deal with, I could not be happier with the frame.

    Andy

  • DA AX cranks and pedals came today some play in the pedals but this is an inherent fault with the DA AX pedal, so will have the bearings renewed see what happens. Also fitted a DA 107 NJS BB today so very pleased with the progress, using the chainring from the ex TDF bike until I find a suitable replacement.

    Andy

  • A few changes to the bike, it came with two pairs of forks the chrome ones are not the original but were used with a Campag headset. The red pair that are now on are the original forks and have a very tight clearance, much tighter than the chrome and significantly alter the geo of the frame. I think I will keep the red but now this makes the brake choice a little harder as the DA AX front is now too long.

I guess I will use the DA AX for the rear and a DA or 600 for the front also changed the shifters on the Concorde freeing up the DA AX to use on this bike. So just waiting on the DA AX brakes and the seat post now.

    Andy

  • Just picked these up DA AX brakes, so nearly all the bits now I should have this built in the next week or so.

    Andy

  • Sub'd

  • A bit of progress now, found the DA AX brakes and seat post so happy there, sods law and all that looks like we are moving so its a bike clear-out. So I guess that as soon as this is built it will be for sale anyway until then here are a few pics.

    Andy

  • Missed the brake fenegeling earlier, but I have a pair of Dia Compe AGC if you get stuck.

  • So pretty much finished now, had to run a slot in the seat post to allow part of it past the internal brake cable. A bit of fine tuning although I went out on it today and its fast very stable and with the chain ring is very easy to spin. Due to a house move at some point soon it will be for sale which is disappointing as I had to search for the DA AX group. Anyway some pics enjoy.

  • Oh My Goodness! Looks lovely.
Really love the rear brake cable exit and those ax brakes are pure sex. Is the post really short?

  • ^ Hi 7ven hope things went ok for you after the lorry rear end and your Mums funeral. The post is standard length I have cut a 70mm slot in it,to allow it to go past the cable, I was not happy with it just sitting on top.
