How many spokes? 16? I'd buy a set of nos or 2nd hand rims (you see them kicking around, I think there are some (tubs I think?) in classifieds at the moment).
I'd personally re-use the spokes too, as long as they're not visibly damaged, corroded or fatigued. I know it's generally considered bad practice, but I've re-rimmed countless wheels, personally and professionally, using 'old' spokes, with no ill-effects. -

The build is progressing slowly but steadily. I've found a nice pair of ventos to replace the shamals. There was a good deal which was easier than looking for nos rims and having it all respoked etc.
The frame is a bit banged up as you can see (paint chips but no dents), but I'm fine with it and will certainly not repaint it.
Does anyone have some experience with threaded campagnolo headsets and precisa forks? The headset I've got now doesn't seem to meet the fork very well.. doesn't look like it should, right? -

:)
Dear all,
I'm starting on my first build, so far I've got a Master Olympic frame (61 cm c-c seat tube), and a 9-speed titanium record group.
Naturally I wanted a nice set of shamals (or ventos, or maybe zondas or cosmics), so I went out and bought a pair for the price they normally go for.
I'm pretty gutted now, since it turns out that the rims are way too worn down (LBS recommends not riding them any more), the hubs seem to be fine though.
I could use some advice from the more experienced among you. What would be the best course of action? Search for vgc rims and spokes, and use the hubs I've got, or search for a new pair with the risk that they too might be in bad condition?
Or does someone have a better idea, like a modern equivalent?
Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts.
p.s. sorry no photos for now, I'll try and make decent ones later on.
