  • Claud Butler Olympic Sprint fixed wheel, 531 frame and forks. I have been told by a chap that its probably early 70s and is made by Holdsworth.

Comes with 700c wheels, recently built with about 5 miles on, Suzue track hubs, stainless spokes and Mavic MA2 rims, new Continental tyres. Comes with the original 27" flip flop wheels, the fixed thread is damaged but has a 2 speed freewheel fitted and tyres.

Gipiemme pedals and cranks, Campagnolo chain ring.
3TTT stem, Galli brake levers, Weinemann black calipers.
    Unicantor saddle.

The frame is sound with no dents or troubles, the paint is pretty good overall but has got scratches and a lump of paint flaked off the fork which can be seen in the pic.

When i got it it was covered in dried grease and oil, which has helped keep it in nice condition thankfully. its certainly not perfect but for a bike of its age its in really good shape.

I have kept it true to original state and kept anything on there which is still functional, such as the brake cables.

It is way too small for me and has been in my flat as an ornament for the last year. i picked it up as it looked a wreck but could see underneath all the 70s mudguards, lights, dirt and other tat it was a solid bike and too good to pass up.

After £420 for it complete, it's in Brighton and would need to be collected but i am happy to bring to the train station.

Someone has asked for the pedals already so am happy to take them off if whoever buys the whole bike would like it without the pedals and knock £20 off.

  • Lovely have a bump. So what size is it? :)

  • Very nice and my size too.

  • knew i would forget something, it's 21.5"

    thanks!

  • £350, would be nice to move it on

  • I'm just trying to ignore this...

  • Thank god this is too small for me! GLWS

  • man, this is so beautiful

  • Don't fight it.....

  • never lie on sizes :p

  • Ha ha, nice deflection.

Unfortunately (sadly) I'm safe as the seat post and stem I'd need would ugly this up something rotten :)

  • :)

I have my eyes on the Zephyr however, this looks very cool too, jokes aside...

  • ive got a couple of claud butlers oldish ones not sure what model they are-- love the olympic sprint --

  • its still here, waiting to be loved...

  • open to offers on this

  • Btw this is a pre-Holdsworth model, Holdsworth never used the name Olympic Sprint:

"Holdsworth later re-used the name Olympic on road and road-path models, but not the name 'Olympic Sprint'."

    (Nkilgariff site as source)

    It's a bi/laminated model and it's from the 50s then.

  • But googling around I can see similar model also stated to be made by Holdsworth...so unless there was a re-paint, I can't explain what's going on :)

  • Hilary Stone has the same model for sale at £185:

and he claims it's also from the 70s. You can see, however, that the "SPRINT" text is barely seen right under Olympic. I can make out the "T" at least.

So maybe Nkilgariff's site is wrong on that statement?

  • its got a 70s vibe to me but i am not that knowledgeable on the particulars of these bikes.

wouldnt have thought it is 50s tbh

still around though and would like to rehome this trusty old bike

  • I now know this is too small for me. Sad and happy at the same time!
Free bump and good luck with the sale

  • yeah its too small for me as well unfortunately although i do ride it occasionally. always get a comment on it from random dog walkers too strangely

  • £325 - buying a new car so the money would be handy!

  • open to offers on this one, hit me!

  • Still going?
