A big cardboard box arrived from Ben

  • After much head scratching and deliberating, soul searching and coin counting, selling stuff while admitting to myself this purchase was completely unnecessary I was finally left with no choice....

A deal was done, and today it arrived.

  • and... ;)

hah, nice to see a pic of the little one, Andy. That's a epic project you got going there.

A lovely and very fitting wheel set you have there too, good spot! look forward to seeing it all come together.

  • So still a bit of an on going project, currently built with a mish mash of newish bits and parts from my old capo, the 3t stem and post will likely go and bar tape still to be wrapped, the comedy horn is on borrowed time but otherwise pretty much how things will stay.

  • Yep, I miss it!
Congrats, it looks great. As expected the perfect wheels, set off nicely with the gumwalls.

  • Yeh, the gumwalls, black mamba or something I think, look the part but not sure on longevity, these mean Edinburgh streets not renowned for taking prisoners, normally use gatorskins with no issues but tempted by a set of schwalbe duranos possibly for changes sake?

  • Not sure what clearances your forks have, but i rode a pair of rivendell "ruffy tuffy" for london duties for months. I did a bit of touring on them before that and they're still looking like there's plenty left in them, so would say they're worth considering for a larger volume gum wall, but not a skidder.

  • Really wish you'd not reposted that photo, had convinced myself that going black/grey with bolt on bits was the correct choice, not so bloody sure now, maybe ocd is in the mix after all....

  • don't be swayed, its boring... and has no horn. I have a nice black ritchey headset coming on a frame that might work for you :P

  • Just re-read this, recon I should have space up front but to confirm, you had 28s fitted with no rear issues? Oh and I'm neither young or cool enough for skidz so no worries there....

  • Those cranks look fast!

  • Yep. That Frame was design to take a 28c. That's the Rivendell's fitted in the pic above.

    Here's the rear clearance,

conveniently fitted to an open pro rim, as well

  • Wonderful, compared to the 23c black mambas it's currently wearing it'll feel like I'm pedalling on a couple of rubber rings.

  • Yep, that was pretty much my favourite set up. Wonderful, indeed! A fixed gear frame, made from titanium, specifically designed for all day, comfortable riding.....Quite what the fuck was going through my head to sell it, is beyond me.
