Its now a rolling chasis! transferred a fair bit from my mtb, just waiting on my 38t and clamp on to braze on front dérailleur adapter.

We also have the sram brifters, x9 derraileur, Deda bars and I swapped the 11-36 back to a 12-17 for commuting purposes.
Edit: And my king cage's arrived

Definetly a strong Monster candidate!

That's the idea hopefully.
38t Chaining is on, front mech sorted (I think). All I need to do is the cabling and mudguards and then I will be done.
Ordered some phat gumwalls (1.75") from germany and they will be slapped on as soon as they arrive: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181535784284?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&var=480499413336&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Roadcruisers are good, cheap, no nonsense tires, I had them on my 26er commuter also in 1.75", they looked quite skinny though!

We will see how it goes, I want to keep that big tire road (ish) bike look up.

Big things arrived, cablework left and mudguards (for which I've ordered a problem solvers fender flute) should be functioning by Monday.
Not sure what to go for handlebar tape wise, any suggestions?

Yup!

All working fine now, just need to get a bloody mtb front dérailleur. Mudguards on soonish and pics will follow.
On my front left hand shifter the shifting section of the lever (sram apex) is more towards the middle of the brake lever. This means that if I break heavily it hits the centre of the handlebar, whereas on the right hand the shifting arm is on the outside and so it goes to the side of the handlebar. Any ideas as to why that is?
Also, where's the best priced camo tape about?

running this for a while now, just got the mudguards on and as I was pushing off at the lights the cranks slipped so that's going to be interesting. I'll take some nicer pictures when that's fixed

I'm putting on some flats, knobbly tyres and an xt clutch deraileur for a bit of off roading in the near future

Nice.

Nice build. Could one do this with any 29er?
-
• #16
In theory yes but the results wouldn't be as good.
Fargo has a much shorter top tube (and fairly short wheelbase) with a fairly high headtube so its a bit more suited for an off road drop set up. MTBs in general tend to be a bit too long for drops.

I did it on my on one inbred, just used a 50mm stem and slapped on a singular swift fork. Loads of fun

slicks and guards for commuting

Nice Hybrid!
So one of my teachers got a new commuter recently which meant his old frame which I had my eye on was up for grabs. Its a 2013 salsa fargo resprayed black with it being re-branded as 'atom' (one of his sponsors from his racing days). It came with a nice Chris king headset and Thompson seat post as well as some nice disco bolts . Plan is to basically transfer most of the parts from my on one inbred and sell that which remains as well as my raleigh randonneur to eventually get some nice hoops and parts.
Frame and forks
Dropouts
The plan is to run it 2x10 with sram rival/x9 shifting with plenty low gearing and bb7 brakes. Haven't really figured out much more than that. Eventually this should be my off roader and commuter which I intend to tour Iceland with next year after my A-levels.
