Feckin thefters. Some of those locks have guarantees to replace the bike if it's stolen. Worth checking?

That absolutely sucks really sorry to hear that. What type of lock was it? Any pics of it once it was cut through? As benbrangwyn said it's probably worth getting in touch with the manufacturer with story/pics if you can!
Also happy to help with any tools/servicing you might need, I help at a free workshop once a week drop me a pm if you need details :-)

Sorry to hear about your bad luck..try and find out the frame number by talking to Decathlon, looking at your receipt/guarantee. If something turns up this will help you identify it!

Knowing the type of lock would definitely help all of us avoid buying it in the future.
Do post the brand, model and possibly picture of how they've opened it, if you've got them.
Thanks.Very happy, btw, that people are offering you help! Got very little on my side.

Thanks so so much for all your help guys. You can't believe how happy its made my gf. Part of being stolen from is that your paranoid that people are horrible and by you coming out for a stranger, you've shown her not al people are like that. We are touched. We are picking up a bike from a guy from camden today. Will keep you updated with pics too when she's finally rolling :)

Great stuff!!
As for locks:
1) go for Kryptonite (medium length) [actually I might have one for sale as I've got way too many, will count them and let you know if interestd]
2) get an insurance (they are cheap and only accept some locks)
3) make sure you use both the lock AND the steel cable that comes with it. Wrap the cable thru the wheels and lock its ends with the lock to a stationary pole.Usually thieves go around with tools to break one type of lock. And it's easier and quicker to break one lock than two. And quicker to break a lock and go than wasting time removing the steel cable as well.
I know it can be a pain in the ass going around with this stuff and waste time everytime to lock it properly, but that's life. One side is bad, the other is amazing (like people in here). -

You should definitely see what sort of cover the lock has.
could at least help with some funds -

So sorry to hear this:(
As someone who has had THREE road bikes stolen I can sympathise with your plight! It's horrible and when it happened the third time I felt nothing :(

Hey guys,
I need help. We went out today and brought a bike for my girlfriend. After we bought a lock from decathlon, with some lights and a helmet. We quickly popped into the library at surrey quays to print something and when we came out someone had cut our lock and the bike was gone. She didn't even have it a day.
As you can imagine she was heartbroken. She sobbed and howled in the street. People thought id broken up with her.
We don't have much money, and thats why she was so sad. Because that was going to be our little thing and we saved to get it. We can't afford to get another.
This is why i need your help. Has anyone got an old bike or one that just needs tlc that i can surprise her with. I feel sick and my heart is broken for her. It doesn't need to be flash. It just needs to roll. Even if you'd like a little bit of money for it i don't mind.
The bike stolen btw was a black globe work in a small frame with a specialised seat and silver handlebars.
Can any one help us out in any way?
Thanks
Matt
