I had a similar situation with a steel frame and Columbus forks. I just ignored it. That was 3 years ago and I haven't noticed any ill effects.

Quick question-
Building up a Dolan pre-cursa with a new Alpina integrated headset - the forks in question are Easton EC90's. I can't for the life of me get the lower crown race fitted without having a small gap between the bottom of the race and the fork - firstly - is this normal, if not, are the parts correct? It's the crown race that was supplied with the headset and has a split in it, presumably to aid fitting.
I will more than likely take it to my LBS but I want to ensure that the forks are compatible with the lower race first. They're older EC90's which wouldn't have originally been fitted with integrated headsets I would presume.
