  • Looking to get some shoes with recessed cleats on a tight budget. Ideally black, and reasonably wide since my feet are practically square.

  • have a look at dhb shoes on wiggle, think there about £33 new

  • 44/45 in normal shoes ie could be 45/46 in cycling?
have you had a chance to try any on?

got some used grey/white 46 shimano m087 gratis if any good

  • need to be 44/45 depending on the brand. I think shimanos are a little narrow for me.

  • Shimano MT33/MT34/MT43 all tend to be around £30 from time to time but are the same soles and stuff as lots of others in the shimano range(MT53/63/54 just add different straps and things), I ride with MT33s lots as I like that they look sort of like hiking shoes more than cycling shoes when off the bike, a year later and apart from the cleats and the ends of the laces fraying a little they seem good as new. I also have a cheaper pair from the aldi specials I got for £20, ok but the cut outs for the cleats are a little off imo, I don't feel they would last the same but they are the "damn my other shoes aren't dry yet" pair.

I had a quick look about and not much cheap in the way of 45s, I think shops are clearing stock to prepare for new lines in spring.

  • I have a pair of ugly Aldi or Lidl ones in about that size that you can have free. No cleats, but they take spd fittings. Pretty good condition as I have only worn them when I can't lay my hands on anything else that's dry.

  • I had the lidl ones (though from a few years back) I found them very comfy & plenty wide for my dreadnought wide feet..

  • bump! Got a budget of about £50-60 now, possibly more if you can include pedals and/or cleats. May also fit a 43 in a wider fitting shoe.
