    Spreadsheet

  • Nice project, you got a target weight?

  • No cos I have no idea what's realistic and it'll end up expensive. Sub 7kg would be nice but dunno how feasible that is. I need a spreadsheet.

  • I doubt you'll have problems, my bianchi was 7.1 like this, no parts were selected for their weight.

Thinking about trying to get it even lower, gonna build a new wheelset for sure.

  • What do the f&f weigh?

  • Sub-7 should be no problem, my STEEL tt fixed is only 7.6 with no weenieing.

China is your friend: you won't be sitting down much, so a carbon saddle at 70g only costs £30, low-profile carbon rims don't cost much (either buy complete wheels for ~£250 or build your own) tubulars are much lighter. £18 gets you a ~175g seatpin. I don't think I'd trust Chinese bars and stem for a hillclimb effort....

The cheapest weenie of all is GP Supersonic tubes if you're using clinchers, 100g saving over normal tubes for around £20.

3/32 drivetrain saves weight and allows you to butcher a cheap secondhand road chainset (simply file off the small ring lugs).....

Best of luck, 6 to 6.5 should be easy without breaking the bank!

  • What indra said; my singular also was 7kg without any WW parts. My FM066 with Di2 and P2M is 8kg. So 6kg is what you should aim for a true WW project.

Aero fork on hill climb bike >>>>>>>>

20mm rims 24/20h; latex tubes etc. or tubs even; chinese fork (my fm066 fork is just above 300g) and seatpost; kalloy stem; ultegra + USE @Sumo style crankset, KCNC seat pin etc. and you will be looking at 6kg-ish.

  • this interests me, thinking of a similar build for CC Sudbury Hill Climb.

  • Easy 6kg with cheap Chinese carbon. Good luck.

  • I'll do a proper projected build list when I get home, but it's gonna be tubs, Red cranks with 3/32 drivetrain, Chinese carbon and Kalloy. Bars are throwing me at the moment, bullhorns are obviously lighter but I prefer climbing with drops and hoods.

  • This was last year's build. No idea what it weighed, but there's obviously plenty of scope for weight loss.

  • Followed! I'm planing something similar with a heavier Start. Just ordered a Pre Cursa (Frame only) in 60cm.

There is no problem to get a prober chainline with the Red Cranks?

  • 3/32 ring on the inside of the tabs should be fine.

  • This is exciting. I think my weenie hillclimb fixie was about 6.5

  • I did it last year; the flat start threw me, the right gear for the hill is too low for the first section.

    #excuses

  • Bars are throwing me at the moment, bullhorns are obviously lighter but I prefer climbing with drops and hoods.

    Chop them below the hoods?

  • @umop3pisdn as for bars. I've got these on my weight weenie sub 6kg road bike. 180g and plenty stiff enough. It's the stem I'd be careful with. (I'm 74kg).

Edit: I sanded and decals off and re-laquered

  • Bro do u even spin/mash?

  • Look interesting. Should say that this is also a bit of a stiffnessweenie project (reason for the Vigorelli frame).

  • What's the frame weigh? Reckon you can get sub 6kg reasonably easily.

  • A fair chunk. 1.6-1.8kg? Gotta be a couple of hundred grams of paint on there, it's thick.

  • When I researched my ww build last year, nothing came close to those hylix Chinese bars £/gram. I don't notice much flex when out the saddle.
