Minor update. Started putting this thing together. Going for a bit of a practical ride.
Plans are 32-35 tires install the cranks and ride. Going to run a 34x11 rear cassette. With a big ring single front for now probably go down to a 42-48 front ring eventually. Trying to keep the budget under €300*no animals where harmed in the making of this post.

What do you have in mind for single front ring? Narrow/wide ring or some kind of chain thingy?
-

Gonna try a plain old ring and cross my fingers for now will adjust as necessary.

will 32-35 tires fit? you could try a steel ring as they are a bit narrower than alloy and should allow the chain to flex a little more

Surprisingly yes! I already test fit a 32 and there was still some room to spare, May try to squeeze a 35

this is getting built up this week, hoping to pick it up Thursday. Temp wheels are going on till my new dt-swiss tubeless joints show up from USA. Front Spengle is going on track bike and the rest of the carbons are probably for sale. pics to follow.

I've got that frame, retired in the in-laws' garage. Always loved it and keep meaning to resurrect it...feeling inspired by the thread. Good luck with the build!

thanks man, probably eventually go 2x10 or at least 2x8 with it

Definitely go 8 speed. Chains last forever and can replace cassette and chain cheaply from any LBS for under £20 when they wear out
-

But newer=better ... But yeah prob stay 8speed may throw Spengle on back may sell

You dont need the two extra cogs unless youre racing. That said I plan to go 11 speed on a Saeco CAAD so ignore me.
Also double spengles far outweighs the need for 10 speed

Eventual build. Will be the alpha 340 to dt Swiss hubs posted above but the spengles will be staying around so can switch it up. Or I will selly hed 3 and disc for a set of xentis mk1s for this bad boy.

making progress slowly...
So after getting frustrated with being old i decided to throw together a "road bike." Picked this frame up from a shop down the street threw some wheels on it and ordered some stuff for it.
Plan is 1x8 to accomidate all the wheels pictured. thats it for now
