I like the sound of 700 vs. 26 mainly because @GranthamMiles doesn't qualify for either/both.

If this doesn't happen today, could we try it in the new year? Bench needs to happen more.

Yeah, I leave for Scotland tomorrow, but keen for a bench game in the new year.
People don't seem that excited about pick-up and I get it. The weather is cold, it gets dark early, and the courts are often slippery. But... polo! It's awesome and we should play more of it, plus the people who aren't in a league team are missing out. Reffing is great fun and you get free beer, but it is often cold and lonely.
Back in Melbourne we put on competitive benches pretty regularly and they are super fun. Teams of 5-6 people with a captain, coach (sometimes) and ref. The first time we had one we did a draft but that was boring, it is more fun if the teams are made up using some arbitrary quality. The last one they did was 700c vs 26' (26' won). Now they are planning a four team bench based on where they live - north vs south vs east vs west. I don't think there are enough active players in London at the moment to do a four team bench but I reckon a north side vs south side one could be fun. Otherwise we could do an old school (people who have been playing 3+ years perhaps) vs new school, or we could do 700 vs 26 (although I think there are way more 700 bikes in London). Does anyone else have a better idea of how to assign players to teams? Locals vs non-locals?
Is there a league game happening at Hackney this Saturday? I know there was some talk of Westway's next game happening then. It would be fun to combine it with a bench. Erin will be visiting (although I don't know her plans), and we could also do a tap out for Vit. Whatcha reckon?
