I know what you're thinking: it'll soon be time to put away the shiny and the carbon, for something more suited to road salt and the lash of Winter, right?

    I've got just the thing...

In 2007 Campag unleashed their Ultra Torque cranks (and Skeleton brakes), followed in 2009 by the 3rd generation Ergo with Ultra Shift (five upshifts and three downshifts): noice!

But in 2011 they decided such largesse was beyond the Pale and lumbered the lower groups with Power Torque, Power Shift and non-Skeleton brakes: boo!

So I've pieced together the best of 2007-2010, to create the "ultra-mate" Veloce group:

    • Ergo shifters: scuffed at the tips and the DS body, all good in the hoods, nice and clicky.
    • Ultra Torque cranks: 170mm compact, plenty of shoe rub and chain rub on the reverse (from not using the spacer), Hirth joint is crisp.
    • Derailleurs: short cage/braze-on, very good condition, FD will handle both standard and compact cranks.
    • Skeleton brakes: dual pivot front and single rear, good condition with some tarnishing of the fixings, plenty of life left in the pads.

Also included are the BB cups (British thread, light use), Veloce 10v chain (no measurable wear), chainring bolts (including the all important spacer) and downtube cable stops (lost the screws, soz).

What's that you say? You want moar!

I tell you what, you seem like a decent sort and you obviously know your stuff; how about I chuck in some bulletproof wheels built by Spa Cycles:

    • Rigida Chrina on Centaur sealed bearing hubs: 36h laced 3x, the finish on the freehub has suffered but that's just cosmetic, there's no bite from the cassette, brake track is flat and the rims are true.

How much? £250 to you chum, including shipping and Paypal fees. You'll pay that for the World of Pain and Mediocrity that is Power Torque and Power Shift without wheels!

    More snaps here.

  • What model are the brakes?.....nice well written post too

  • Thanks!

The brakes are Skeleton-D: D for differentiated, so dual pivot front and single pivot rear, which will help avoid locking up the rear on winter roads.

Specifically, BR9-VL which dates them to 2009/10 (BR7-VL for 2007/8).

  • 2nd generation ergos>3rd. Mad bargainz, would buy if not broke.

  • 2nd generation ergos>3rd.

    U mad fam?

  • Middle one. Is that 2nd generation? Perfect.

  • Yes it is.

    And no it isn't.

  • Nice! Have a bump

  • If the road to splitsville opens I want the ergos, like I said earlier in PM.

  • If you're splitting I'm interested in the wheels?

  • No PM received...

  • Split?

I'll give it to this evening and see what's what...

  • No PM received...>

Ok, was referring to last week, we PMd back and forth for a bit as I've a wanted ad out for some ergos and you were going to put an ad out for the groupset.

  • Ok.

TBH I can't remember our conversation, but you have first dibs either way.

    :)

  • May I also register interest in the wheels if you split and Zig and Zag decide they don't need them. Cheers!

  • Noted!

  • Possibly the brakes......

  • This is such a bargain. I need to find something to put this all on.

  • Tentative PM on the way...

  • In the interests of transparency, I offered to split some parts earlier this evening.

    No-one has accepted my offers.

I have since had interest in the complete group and wheels, subject to shipping costs: they are overseas.

I will get a quote and have been promised a decision by the end of the day (28th Oct).

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

  • aye ss, money talks, dibs walk

  • Tentative dibs kinda wiggle (sic)
