signed up but isn't a near miss a hit? If you nearly miss something you have hit it, similarly if you have nearly missed something you have hit it?

I did my one-day diary on Tuesday earlier this week. You will only get to log 10 incidents and you're asked for your subjective opinions on how annoying and / or scary each incident was. I barely remembered my journey on Tuesday so was struggling a bit at first but then suddenly the floodgates of memory opened and I remembered SEVENTEEN incidents in SEVEN miles. ffs.
Unfortunately the mounting irritation I felt when recalling them might have inflated my "annoying" score for all ten incidents I reported.

Nah, it's a miss, which was near. As opposed to a miss which was miles away. As opposed to a hit.
Not "nearly miss".
Got a flyer through about The Near Miss Project.
