  • There seems to be a new Talbot Frameworks build appearing on the forum every week recently and they all look really good. I recently added myself to 'the list' to own one and I can hardly wait :-)

There are threads devoted to other bikes & brands on here, so I thought it might be nice to gather all of the LFGSS Talbots together in one thread, to showcase the talent of @coldharbour

    So far I can think of @Dammit @Howard @rogan @laner @hoops @eyebrows???

  • Just took some pictures of mine before it goes into a deep winter mode. Almost 1 year old now and still stoked on it.

  • @herne hill, battling through summer series round four

  • This seems like an appropriate place.
I asked Matt to make the frame balance between stiffness and lightness.
There was a little debate over disc brakes or not, but as I have an illogical aversion to them, I stuck to callipers.
The second brief was to try and shift my weight back a little on the bike.
I went to Scherrit first to get (re-)fitted- and we weighed the balance of weight on the 56cm CAAD10, and it was quite off the front, regardless of fit, meaning that I would slide out on corners during crit racing, and tended to knacker my arms before my legs*.
Between the two of them they came up with the geometry attached.
As for the stiffness and the lightness- Matt has been using some custom drawn tubes recently, based around Spirit and 853 tubing.
The picture of the naked frame highlights the variation in tube diameters perfectly, but the specs are below:
    HT - Paragon machine works
DT - Columbus spirit mega max biaxially ovalized
ST - Reynolds custom drawn swaged (853 31.8 to 28.6 profile)
    Columbus Zona s bend chainstays
    Columbus Zona seat stays
The ride is sensational. I can't wait for the ride later, and on that note, I'm off!

As for the color scheme, I'm sure you're all aware I love pink and green, and this paint job is so vibrant, it is glorious. Couldn't ask for more.

As the Talbot owners will attest, dealing with Matt has been an absolute joy- he is so keen to try new things, and I feel like that will only increase with the new spray booth, and in house fabrication kit that's currently being assembled.

  • Really like it @eyebrows. Needs some better pics!

  • I'm not very good at photos. Bikes are for ridings.
It was sensational today. I mean fucking incredible. Better than anything I've ever ridden.
Nimble, stiff and planted in the corners.
Here's a photo at some point in the ride (nearly muddy enough for my liking).
    Grinning from ear to ear.

  • Clearly needs mudguards!

  • Clearly needs [another Talbot with] mudguards!>

  • Reminds me of the watermelon brooklyn(?)!

  • that right there is clearly a 650b paintjob.

  • Dan said "Worst photo of a bike ever Neil"

    And:

EDITED TO ADD quote function, what you do now?

  • I will add my excellent photography skills to the party.

  • Wtf is that? Are you a 14 year old girl? ;)

  • Snapchat is the best app in the whole world.
    The LOLZ never stop.

  • Your crywank Cervelo review would have been much better recieved if you used the medium of snapchat....

  • You can art direct all my reviews from now on shitface. x

  • Thought I might as well join in.

    Lesser spotted 'early Talbot'.

Fairly traditional geometry, signature wishbone seatstay, 'precisia' style fork. Built with mainly Record components, Nitto seatpost & stem and bars, saddle and bar tape from Busyman.

Greatly enjoyed dealing with Matt (and everybody at Blue Door cycles / Talbot Frame works / Tablot Wheel building).

    Looks great, rides beautifully.

  • Left brake lever is open.. lovely bike nonetheless!

  • Another early Talbot...

It's now done over 3000 miles and is still a pleasure to ride. Have made almost no changes from original set up (maintaining controversial saddle choice). I switched out the rather poor Red front mech for a much better shifting Force one, but then stripped the thread on that and switched back to the Red one, which is working ok-ish. I need to change the tyres and have been contemplating switching the old typeface decals for the newer one, but have generally been too busy riding it to get round to this.
Here it is in semi-audax mode (e.g. with a Carradice bag) halfway through Whistable and back.

  • Did you ride the great escape audax?

  • Was deffo spotted on the Ditchling Devil!
