Cavallo geared bike for hills (webbed lugs FTW!)

  • So,

Forthcoming move to either Auckland or Sydney made me think about what sort of bike I need for a daily hack about, and hills in particular...... I will be taking a few with me but don't need an excuse for a new project!

I still want to build up a nice tourer with racks / guards etc but none have come up that have ticked all the boxes.

Then I got thinking about getting a 1990s ish era bike and playing around with it.......and then this came up (always wanted a steel frame with webbed lugs so I couldn't say no):

    cavallo

Its 8 speed campag, but wheels are a mix and shimano hub / cassette apparently, so im currently looking for some suitable campag wheels......sort out seat / seatpost, shorter stem, put on some Simplex down tube shifters (thanks Scilly.Suffolk) put some nitto B260 risers on and figure out some suitable brake levers

thinking either the Dia Compe 135 ones:

or something more bmx / generic from Dia Compe, but open to ideas / suggestions?????

Probably throw my front rack on and see how that goes......

  • nothing says gangsta more than a seahorse on the top tube!

    cavallo 1

  • Awesome! Love the bartape :)

  • Hi, I don't suppose you still have this bike/frame for sale?
