Wanted: Downtube shifters (Braze on)

Posted on
  • Posted a thread looking for bolts only with no joy, now looking for a complete set of Downtube shifters (Braze on), ideally in London, for reasonable monies.

Was hoping for 80s/90s campag or shimano 600, to fit with a Concorde build but it seems all local sources are dry... I've been offered some Simplex and some LA shifters, neither of which really fit the bill.

Open to offers of alternatives if they're vaguely contemporary (inc campag clones etc).

    Cheers!

  • I have a 600/SL-6208 6 speed indexed right shifter (with the shimano overshift) and most of the left shifter..lever arm and boss, just missing the guts which is friction anyways. In pristine condition, I've gone back to retro friction so have been sitting in my drawer for yonks..
    £15 posted

  • Ah, can they not be used as friction then? If there's any way it could be cobbled together, then I'd be interested, otherwise will have to find a complete set I guess.

  • yeah the right can be used on friction, all the shimano range can AFAIK even up to 10 speed.
I've got a complete RX100 left shifter but not sure if the guts will work as the levers are slightly different in shape.
pm me if of further interest
    cheers

  • Check your PM

  • Got some shimano 105 indexed 7 speed can also be switched to friction.

You can have them as the plastic has cracked on part of it. Doesn't affect performance it's just cosmetic

  • 7 speed Dura Ace £20 plus post. PM if interested

  • Assuming that a spare bolt fits, NLL has sorted me out. Thanks all for the offers!
