Worth Buying this frame?

  • Looking at a vintage frame , its unidentified but has really nice cut out, filed down lugs and forged dropouts, pin stripes on the seat stay caps, in all it looks like a quality frame. Possibily 60s/70s , bristish threading. Going for £80

The seller says it has a 26.6 seat post size . I know seat post size isn't always an indicator of quality and tube sets could vary but does anyone know if this is likely to be any good? Was 531 ever sold with this seatpost diameter? I'm looking to upgrade my gas pipe frame for something a bit livelier and don't want to buy another!

    cheers

  • I think 26.6 would usually suggest a French frame, possibly built with 531.

  • if it's british threading I don't think it will be french. no idea on quality unless you post some pics ;)

  • Some French frames used English threading in combination with odd euro post sizes. Gitane is one possibility according to a quick search. Pictures would be handy though

  • Yep Ill try and get some asap
