Thanks AirTime, aren't they for fixed gears only? I should have mentioned that in the first post!

Where are you based? Probably the best way to start, if you intend on doing early weekend starts!
-
• #5
One would assume on A fixed Gear/SS forum... Oh never mind.
Have a look here for your relevant area of interest linky
Then ask the clubs you're interested in if you can be put in their mailing list. This will give you an insight into the club's activities and demeanor before committing a days wage or more to their cause. -

I am based in Camberwell

Im based in Kennington, would be keen to get some rides going.

Sounds good, if we could get 4 or 5 people together for group rides that would be a good thing, anyone else based south.
Box Hill is easy to get to and have often thought of going early one morning before work.

I've heard nothing but good things about Brixton Cycles and often see them out in Kent. I ride with Blackheath Velo on a Sunday morning. They've not been going very long, so are still quite small. Good guys though and a mix of abilities.

Thanks TTM how do I get in touch with Blackheath, will try both lots, but still keen for a Camberwell/Kennington SE group

Definitely try to find one that finishes their weekend run as close as possible to your house - schlepping across London after a long group ride is a royal PITA.
British Cycling show a lot of clubs on a map which is quite useful.

Rides start from All Saints church in Blackheath Village on Sunday mornings at 07:30. You'd be very welcome anytime.
There is also a FB page that's worth checking to see that the ride is going ahead. Or you can drop me a Pm. I'm away this weekend, but will be around next Sunday.

Interested in this if a groupetto forms. Add me to the list...
Also going to look up Blackheath velo, it's only 10ish mins away from me.

Am I right that Catford CC ride out of Farnham?
The fuq is that about? -
• #19
Farnborough surely?
-
• #20
Sorry yes, Farnborough Village.
Still... dafuq? It's 45miles away from Catford.
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick entirely?
-
• #21
Farningham, maybe?
[Edit] Or not.

Add me to the list if this gets going please. Currently a Dulwich Paragon member. They seem to be working hard at the moment to attract new riders and be a bit less geared towards racing and nothing else.

What clubs can be recommended within reasonable distance from Wood Green / Finsbury Park area. I am thinking about all year group rides and maybe races next summer...
I've been training recently with a few people from the London Wildlife Trust for the Ride 100 and now that it's over I miss the group rides etc.
I'd like to get much fitter/faster on the bike and after averaging 19.5mph (my best ever) for a ride over 80miles considering the conditions, i'm buoyed by this and would like to keep the momentum going.
I'm not one really for joining a big cycling club like Paragon or Dynamo, but wondered whether there were any other smaller clubs out there, that are sociable and take cycling seriously but not that seriously!
Or if there are a group on here who regularly go out for rides etc who'd welcome another member that would be good to know.
