• This bike has been through various iterations (most of them documented here - I'd advise a read before buying - and although I really like it, it's not getting used enough, and it isn't really right for what I want to use it for.

It's a strange one - or 'unique' if you'd rather. Sloping top tube, verging on lo-pro geometry, but with eyelets on the track dropouts and on the fork ends and an attachment on the seat tube for a mudguard, which seem to be original and bottle cage mounts, as well as rear brake drilling. It also had brake cable routing on the top tube, which a previous owner removed, but no gear cable routing. Almost certainly a custom build, I've never seen another one like it and can't think what it could have been intended for other than use as a fast winter fixed for training. Or fast rainy fixed time trials.

The 853 and Paul Donohue should come with asterisks - this is what I was told by the seller. I am pretty confident it is a Donohue build, as it came stripped but with the outline of Donohue decals (see pics in link above), and a lot of the welds, the seattube cluster and the forks look identical to those on other Donohues I have seen (and the three others I own). As for the 853, again this is what I was told, and the frameset is very light and the tubing looks the same as my other 853 bikes, but the only people who could confirm this would be the person it was built for, or Paul himself, and I cannot contact either.

The other slight negatives, which I want to get out of the way in the interests of clarity, are:
    1) Seatpostgate: as documented in the link above, the seattube has been through some tough times. When I bought it, a seatpost was seized in, and though this was released by Armourtex, and reamed to 27.2mm by Fitzrovia, it is still a very snug fit for 27.2mm seatposts, and too big for 27mm posts without slightly overtightening. I have a 27.2mm inline post which does fit well with it, which I can include.

    2) There is some slight bubbling under the paintwork, which I can point out in person, or try to document in pictures.

The positives should be clear from the pictures - this is great fun, looks great (if you like orange), and is pretty special. It also rides really nicely, I have done everything from 70+ mile very hilly rides through North Wales, to commutes around London, and apart from the geo meaning a tall person like me is pretty low down, it has generally been a pleasure.

I would prefer to sell it as a complete bike. I also bought a 1" carbon fork for it, and a threadless Dura Ace headset. I will sell it with two fork/headset/handlebar combinations. I don't want to split it immediately, but I might post prices for a split if no interest in the complete bike is forthcoming within a couple of days.

    The buyer would get:
Frame and fork: Paul Donohue* 853*, ST 59cm ctt, 57.5cm ctc, TT 57.5cm, ETT 57cm. F&F powdercoated RAL2001 by Armourtex in August 2013

Anything I've missed? Any photo requests? PM me.
I'd really like a quick sale so no fannying about with dibs, just arrange a time to come and see it in Tottenham, or tell me where you'd like me to bring it if it's not too far and you're genuinely interested. I'm off work all week but going on holiday on Sunday and I'd really like it sold by then so I can afford accommodation during my bike tour.

Forgot the price, didn't I? All of the above for £500

    With crabon fork and risers:

  • good deal. glws tom! one has graham's coming in and out of life, tell me..

  • So nice and such bargain

  • Well I've not exactly been blown away by the bidding frenzy for this...

I have had some interest in the front wheel and the carbon fork, but before I consider splitting it I'd rather a sale for the full bike. The music festival I was supposed to be at on Friday and Saturday has been cancelled so I may be free for a bit more time over the weekend.

There has been some interest in the complete bike but nothing concrete yet so...

£490 for the complete bike plus the extra bits?
