Trending items follow Newton's Law of Cooling, and are given a heat score for recent comments, and a cooling factor for age of the thread... that is we bias towards newer threads with a high number of comments in a short duration of time.

Time then cools the score of the item based on an exponential curve... very recent items are scored much higher than items with more comments in a short duration that are older.

So who now has the lowest user#?
