  • Hi, Could anyone please tell me what size bottom brackets these frames take? Am considering rebuilding one for m'lady as a anniversary pressie!
    Thanks

  • you can measure it quite easily, the bb shell will either be 68mm wide or 70mm i imagine its 68mm. are you going to build it with gears or single speed?

  • thanks, thats a turn up for the books! thought maybe it was a weird european fitting / something I wouldn't be able to get easily. Nice one!
Im planning on converting it to a SS but hit a wall with the BB and couldn't find any information anywhere on it :/ So far just this:
    700c wheels
    1inch threaded steerer
    68mm BB shell
will measure out the rear spacing when I can - hope its 120mm or some serious stay bendage will have to be done!

  • Don't bend the stays! Just add spacers to the hub.

  • Ditto^ velosolo.com do lots of pretty spacers

  • I mean to re-space the hub to 126mm or 130mm, rather than for the chainline.

  • thanks Scilly! tho not sure what a bent stay would do to the bike (stability issue?) but am gonna look for spacers now, cheers!

@ townshend ~ thanks for the intel on velosolo :]

I did mean re-space hub, but just realised velosolo dont actually sell the right spacers. soz everyone :(

nice! thanks for the headsup Scilly!

@ townshend - no probs dude!

  • Are you converting a complete bike, or just starting with a frame?

  • I chanced upon a Puch frame with all the bits (minus wheels) but heavily rusted in places, so i'm replacing all the parts rather than de-rust
