A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry in the City.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was hit by a Travis Perkins truck on Camomile Street close to the The Gherkin at about 10.50am this morning.

Police remain at the scene and a cordon has been put in place.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area while the incident is being investigated.
A City Police spokesperson confirmed the man had died, adding: "We are on the scene and road closures are in place".
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.53am to reports of a road traffic collision on Camomile Street.
"We sent two ambulance crews, a duty officer to the scene. A medical team from London's Air Ambulance in a car also attended.

"Our staff treated a pedestrian - a man reported to be in his 20s. He was taken as a priority to the Royal London hospital in a serious condition".

A dangerous junction. Pretty sure there has also been a cyclist fatality there in the last few years.
