Touring from london to the east coast without cars: Advice please

Hello all,
I am looking to go on a touring holiday next month. I am setting off from London, heading east to Kent, then want to continue along the coast. destination unknown. I would really like to avoid cars and main roads. sticking to canal paths, forests(with paths or dirt track) diss-used railway tracks(that are not totally over grown), quiet-ways and coastal trails......if anyone has a routes they have used in the past it would be great to get your advice.

The aim is to be in nature, by the sea and experience the beauty of the English country side. I am open to all suggestions advice and even going the opposite direction if it will have less cars.

thanks Skully i will look into your tips. i have decided to take a 4 weeks off to ride around and discover England. really looking forward to getting out of london.

I want to do the tunnel in this one, it's a mile long which could be boring but makes a change I guess.

Such a huge variety of things you could see, would make a list of towns/places and join up with routes.

Maybe a start would be heading south to brighton but then going west across the downs and then find routes to go Cornwall way or Wales or start heading north.

a coastal path goes most of the way from dover to margate

check out Dungeness. Weird, but very cool.
