• Hi everyone,

I have seen a 60's/70's Moulton in a local bike shop selling for £80 so went onto research online at the possibility of fitting drop bars and change the components to alloy ones.
I've found a various examples so it seems possible.
Unfortunately the bike was sold when I got back a few days after.
I have been looking for one on eBay but prices vary a lot with some selling for £250 and needing loads of work.
These are an idea of what I'd like to achieve so wondering if someone has one to sell.
Looking at different models, I'd like 16" wheels (so no Mini or Midi please), suspension and not having to re spray it if possible as I'd like to have a taste of it first. Rear rack would be great.
I do not know if is realistic but budget around £100/£120. Hopefully that will get me something to start with.
    Let me know if anything.
    Cheers
    Alex

  • A friend of mine (Hackney based) has a couple of Moultons he's been looking to get rid of. Unfortunately, he's away till the end of next week, so can't contact him. Send me a pm next week, if you don't find anything.

  • That's great 606. Really appreciate it and will definitely send you a pm if nothing turns up. Cheers, Alex

  • Bump. Still looking.

  • There's quite a few on the bay - just either miles away, or ridiculously expensive or in need of a tonne of work.

I rode past, and said hi to a guy riding a really nice looking single speed Deluxe this morning. Looked great so consequently I've been searching all day for one!

This could be good if you're near sidmouth:

  • The same happened to me after I've seen how nice they can look with the right bits on it.

I've seen a few on eBay but none of them near enough where I live.

The one on that link looks quite decent compare to others I've found.
It is always worth contacting the seller to see if can at least box it to arrange a courier, although I'd like to see it in the flesh. I've read that the bolt on the rear part can rust and leave the suspension jammed.

Thanks for the link and good luck hunting one down.

  • And another bump

  • Be careful which one you buy

Mark Ones look great but they have a design fault with the rear forks. They split

Mark Two's have the stronger rear forks but don't look quite as nice..

  • Thanks for the heads up Peter. Will have that in mind.
