Once upon a time, I bought a 3rd or 4th hand Goldtec wheelset and apparently someone had changed the bearings already however, I felt that perhaps it's time for another change as they felt a bit shit.
Long story short, after many hours of intense banging and WD40 I managed to get the bearings out from the rear hub (whoever changed them before me didn't bother greasing the housing/axle) however, despite my best attempts, the front doesn't even seem to budge. With the upcoming weekend I was considering just spraying the living shit out of it with WD40, letting it rest overnight and then seeing whether it has made any difference but that is more or less all I've got.
Anyone have any tips or advice for dealing with the situation?
Pour a couple of kettles of boiling water on the hub. Then try the thumping again.

Wouldn't blame the previous owner... any grease he could put, would have been washed away pretty fast... when they seize and corrode (and swell) in the shell it's normally due to lack of maintenance.

Will definitely try the kettle method over the weekend and report back.

Thanks for the kettle method. It worked surprisingly well. However, as my luck goes, the front bearings on a Goldtec differ from the back.

In case anyone is interested, Goldtec front bearings are 6000 LLB and the rear are 6001 2RS. It's also a reminder for myself in case I ever forget.

if your front wheel bearings is still stuck, you could dip cloth in paint thinner, place it on bearings and leave it there for 2mins so that paint thinner can hopefully loosen the stuck bearings.
