Your forks are drilled... swap for a roadbrake?

Thanks but not keen on caliper in the front. Want to keep canti. Is there an issue with sti shifters and these canti's?

Not an issue with the sti and canti's, try missing out the gear cable guides on the headtube, perhaps run the rd gear cable on the left side of the frame and cross the wires under the downtube
also a few pictures of the side view, top and direct front would help to give a better idea of how the cables are flowing, it looks really messy and crossed (but that might be to do with left hand/rear brake set up, stumpy cable hanger or cable length) -

You could find one of these style hangers?

Thanks Clockwise - do you know what that type hanger is called?
can't believe I can't use the current hanger setup...!

Cable hanger, canti hanger? I just know them by sight but the pics I got are from a google search for canti hanger.
I would try play around with the existing one to get it working. One of the issues with the hangers like that is gravity is against them so if they work loose they then want to spin to the side a bit. Ideally you want to find one like the green bikes one so it has that bit poking slightly under the middle of the forks(and so stopping it turning) or keep the existing hanger and have both together.

A fork mounted hanger would sort it out I think - looks like your gear outer on that side is a bit long anyway

Miss out the guide and shorten the outer so it doesn't foul. Should be fine.

thanks all - is there a diagram of some sort that shows cable routing best practice? Just want to get the routing perfect. Thanks.

See how your outer visible in the picture has a slight kink in it before it goes in the guide? Ideally you don't want that, you want the smoothest route, whilst allowing a full rotation of the bars in both directions. If you use a front hanger - (like this http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/tektro-fork-mount-cable-hanger?gclid=CJTqsdqkyr4CFWqWtAodnVwAHA) that might help - it'll also reduce judder from the brake

Do I use that front hanger with the current hanger I've got on the headset? or is it an either or? -

Just the fork hanger - you route the brake outer straight into the top of the fork hanger then that's the only exposed cable - it's a lot shorter cable routing and a lot less distance to 'judder' (I'm sure someone else has a more technical explanation)

Also, you might want to try routing the brake cable over the stem and around and underneath, comme ca:

Thanks all - been reading all about the fork shudder. For the front, since I can opt for caliper brakes, I think I'm going to switch over to Ultegra calipers.
Now the question is what do I do with the canti mounts on the fork that will just be exposed!

jebus, do you like to worry about stuff?
just take them off and ride your bike.
Hi All,
My first time setting up up a bike and have a question about canti and STI setup.
I've got the Shimano CX70 Ultegra canti brakes and in the front with Shimano 105 5700 STI's. I need some tips on how to set the cabling up because when I turn the wheel to the right and left the canti brake gets engaged because the gear cable rubs against it.
Do I need to have longer cables? Do I need to route the cables behind the canti brake cable so they're flush against the frame? Is there somewhere where I can see "best practice" on cable routing - i'd like it to look really neat.
Attached is a photo of what's going on
Thanks in advance
