single bolt seatpost- wont stay together.

  • single bolt seatpost on my beater keeps slipping. it seems no matter how tight i get the thing a few hundred meters later the seat is loose. before i pitch it is there any tricks for this besides locktitiong the shit out of it?

  • Electrical tape around the saddle rails, make them a tiny bit more chunky and gripable. Has worked in the past for a quick fix but still needed a replacement asap.

  • Electrical tape might work temporarily, but it will eventually slip.

Put some small strips of leather around the rails where the clamp makes contact with them.

  • The bolt itself is baking out causin the issue. Just at work now and looking for a get home fix ha

  • Okay, problem with the thread. Take the bolt out, get some PTFE tape (plumbers tape) and wrap it round the thread, then wind the bolt back in.

  • I'll give that a shot, thanks

  • The clamps on my seatpost are bent from over-tightening the bolt. This means that they meet around the bolt before they grip the saddle rails well, you may want to check for this.
