love this frame.

Lovely, whack on Campagnolo, please

It's having DA 7900 groupset, I'm sorry, just prefer the mechanics and feel of Shimano over Campag.

Time for a new girlfriend?

Ten times ay. Pow. Please take note of Breso's build and replicate finishing kit thanks.

Awesome!

this would look amazeballs on the chrous carbon/alloy groupset.

7900? On this? I have no groupset bias, but this is crying out for an older group. Doesn't have to be Campag, just older! DA 7400 or something.

7900 will be hot!

I'm thinking, 38mm carbon clinchers, tan wall tyres, Thomson seatpost, black stem, compact bars and a 7900 group set! Daaayumm

In terms of using an older groupset. Rear dropouts are already 130mm, and I've already got the full 7900 groupset, I know I love the way it works and feels, just don't see much point in swapping it round when I've already got it all.

Sounds like a bit of a plan! In terms of wheels and tyres, I'm running it with the Bormios and some Durano Plus and pulling them from the forum for a while just to get it on the road, then focusing on building some 32H Ultegra to Open Pro wheels for light touring/winter wheels, might get some carbons in the future for sunny days.
Going to figure out whether I want to go for black or silver seatpost+stem before I splash out on thompson, got the Blackstick on it at the moment and transferring the cockpit from my condor for the moment but that's all subject to change. Tempted with a Brooks swallow as well, did me reet on LEJOG.

At least some cranks that don't look like ass, pls :(

• #15
Nice print you've got up on the wall!
-

Been excited to see this since you told me about it when I picked up that crankset, it's a beauty!
Generally agreeing that 7900 is not the way to go though, but it's a hard argument to make when you already have the group.
Definitely have a look at Breso's build, its one of my favourite bikes full stop.. -

Put the crankset on last night, the gunmetal actually very nearly matches the grey on the frame, looks nice actually! Anyhow, I'll put some photos up later today/tomorrow and let you lot argue too.
Anyone got a link to Breso's build? Can't seem to find it, unless it's b'jammin's, in which case, it was indeed lush but going in a slightly different modern direction.
Oh, and got the print for Christmas, I've got another one with jerseys on by the same guy, David Sparshott, really awesome bit of artwork!

Hmmmmm, quite tempted by that actually, really lush build.
Try to work out whether I want to go silver or black with the build, putting some pictures up with part of the groupset on in a min and I think silver seatpost/stem/rims/hubs might look the part.
Either that or black spokes and black CXP33 rims for the light touring wheelset.

That Breso build is dope, but not sure this frame will pull it off so well, with no black on the frame to soak it up. Always thought Athena 11spd would be the best modern option, but it'll class out whatever you put on it...maybe not the 7900 chainset tho, not seen any evidence of that looking good ;)
If it's the difference between getting it ridden, or not, whack the da on and upgrade when the opportunity arises. Can't knock the DA for function and with a different chainset (can't think what ottomh) the rest of the group might sit quite nicely.
Look forward to seeing the progress. Just glad this has found an appreciative home on the forum and with its own cp thread, I won't miss it so much.

Looks a bit too modern in my humble opinion , lovely frame tho
-

Loving this, doing the same with my 87 master shortly. Campagnolo super record 11. Great blend of classic steel and modern gruppo
-
• #24
It looks alright actually, I would put a silver seatpost on though.

I prefer the look of modern Campagnolo ,but that is just my opinion
whatever you put on the bike i am sure you will love the ride
In the words of my girlfriend, "You're not getting a fucking pink bike".
Well, this is a bit awkward.
Grabbed this from b'jammin and promised I'd ride it, and that I plan to. The Principia was just too small, and I wanted something that'd double up for light touring, did LEJOG on a saddlebag so this should cut my stable down to my Condor and this.
First build might not be the prettiest, building it up from what I've got at the moment, but hoping to progressively make this lovely, to actually do it justice.
But anyway, a small reprieve from revision today and a chance to try for a tentative first build.
