Selling several bits on behalf of a recently deported housemate. It seems like an odd 3Rensho frames as there are no panto's anywhere proving that it's a 3Rensho, and it's a respray. Regardless, it's a beautiful frame. Bits that aren't mentioned are on hold. All pics are clickable. NO DIBS! Just PM and cash is king.

Cool frame, have you tried contacting 3Rensho with a frame number?

I have, no reply so far. It's not much of a frame number really because it's only a letter followed by 2 digits.

They'll probably be able to tell from a picture and whatever numbers / letters are there. Hope you get a reply!

Based on the BB that comes with it looks like Italian because the BB has 36x24 cups

Aha, the track ends look like Campagnolo shape, the brake bridge looks like a 'Silva' one. If the BB is 36x24 tpi (italian)... I'd say it's likely not 3Rensho, but an italian frame builder.

Right, apparently I emailed the wrong person so I just contacted a guy at yellowjersey.org, one Andrew Muzi, who seemed to be the main importer of 3Rensho frames back in the day Yoshi Kono still building frames. I asked him to identify this 3Rensho frame, sent him the pic gallery, and here's what he replied:

"Probably 1983 to 1986 based on styling and not having 1987+ type frame ends. Should have a sold-in-Japan serial number sequence not an export series number."

So I asked what's the sold-in-Japan serial number look like and I told him my serial number and he said "It's a custom, originally sold in Japan".

Also, the "purple" colour seems to be correct according to this tube-set: (see no. 11), although the pearl white on the head-tube and seat-tube are definitely a respray.

The paint isn't going to tell anyone it's provenance, as it looks like a recent re-spray .

Did you mention that it has an Italian bottom bracket shell? every japanese frame including 3rensho I've ever handled has been British thread.

I could be interested, should it be a 3rensho - but I'm sceptical.

Sorry, but this probably isn't a 3Rensho frame. Very nice frame/paint job? Yes. San Rensho? Unlikely.

But he's not selling it as NJS frame, he didn't mention nothing about NJS.

None of the funny frames with weird tubing, sloping tubes, 650/24" wheels etc. are NJS approved...
