I would insist on cash on collection to be on the safe side, nothing to stop them reversing funds once they have collected the bike/frame.

I would walk away from that just in case. Are you struggling for buyers?

Yes its a scam; avoid.
Basically when you agree on payment you will get an email saying the funds have been sent to your account which WONT come from PayPal but will look exactly the same as PayPal email. AKA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing

Anybody that says I have an "agent" come pick up a bike...from Gumtree is instantly a scammer in my eyes. Avoid like the plague.

Ok cheers. Will avoid. Not in a major rush to sell so will dodge this bullet.
I'm eyeing up a leader heritage lo frame so just wanted to raise some funds.
I am selling a bike on gumtree an got a text message from a foreign number asking me to email them. I replied and told them about the bike, then received this email in response.
"Thanks i read and understand the add i accept the price and am willing to buy it, i wont be able to come due to my work frame.. i am restricted by work.. but never mind as i will have my pick up agent come for the inspection after the payment has being made into your PayPal account.. kindly get back to me with the pick up address and your PayPal email address so that i can put the fund into your PayPal account."
Seem rather strange. What do you guys think?
