Haven't had any done since I moved here, but the artist I use back in Essex mentioned Johnny @ Inka, which is in Kemptown by New Steine
That said, his recommendation came in virtue of the type of work I usually get (all black/shading, no colour) - I suppose the right place for you is going to largely depend on what tattoo(s) you have in mind..

Depends on what you want but Magnum Opus and Into You seem the shops held in highest regard.
As Jack says, Nine for contemporary.
London is only a short train ride though. Loads more choice.

I've got something on my shoulder that I don't really like, because the guy I got recommended put all of two minutes effort into it so it looks tacky. I need someone who can add to it to make it look better, I'll show you next time we ride. Which could be tomorrow if you are about?
