This one is as good as it gets, best chain IMO and only £7.28

Any of the above. Izumi, KMC, Sram, Wipperman etc are all fine - just clean and oil it regularly.
I get about 3,000 miles out of Sram chains. All chains 'stretch' and wear no matter what you do but a £15 chain should see you through six months of heavy/regular use.

Currently using a Sram PC7 and have managed about 2000 miles on it until it started to stretch, it's still fine but will be replacing it soon. I clean and lube it every week while at work, they aren't bad but I think KMC 510's are better for the price, it does depend on riding style though. If your quite skid happy chains won't last as long as those who aren't.
Search for the MDCC_tester thread, whatever has been recommend is usually a safe bet.

Izumi Standard on its way. Have been trying to get LBS to get a track chain of any kind in for last two weeks and apparently "everyone's on back order". Hmmm. @Mechamorgan - Super Tough looks lovely, just can't justify £50+ on a chain. When the rich widow shows up we'll see though. Anyway, many thanks all for the responses.
Best

I think he's joking.
KMC or Wipperman. No point in spending more than £15 on a track/as chain.
This may help:

Please explain to me how your £60 NJS chain is better than a £15 bushed Wipperman 1R8?

colours are nicer, duhhh
I've always found Supertoughs to last an unfeasibly long time with an adequate amount of care. I used one to commute every day for about a year and a half, didn't even appreciably wear.
I'm not completely serious in my advocacy of Supertoughs, but I personally think they represent good enough value for money that I continue to buy them...

...track chain...commute...
Does not compute.

But does commute.

I'm not going to let you get away with that.
Anyone got any recommendations for a 1/8" track chain? I'm riding around a 25 mile round trip commute with a fairly heavy pannier most days throughout the year so I need something that will take a beating and won't stretch despite my best efforts. Not fussed about light weight. Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve
