Cool - list already started! Will everybody see it in here that needs to?
What do we need for the meeting - roles and materials?
Minutes taker
Chair (Velocio?)Paper
Pens
Computer
Pre arranged agenda
Sample kit?Give me some ideas and we can then assign certain things to attendees.

I have pm'd Velocio and offered to chair the meeting, and all we need to do is elect a committee, so we need people to step up to be
Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
Membership secretary
and committee members
as a minimumThere are other roles that could be added, clothing secretary springs to mind but isn't essential to satisfy the needs of the bank.
Someone needs to record the results in the case of any voting (if there is one volunteer for a post and there are no objections there will be no need for an actual vote)
This is the bare minimum we need to do to get things under way.
We should give notice to the forum quickly so that if there are other things to be discussed we can put them on the agenda, and of course we will need paper copies (or a screen to display them) -

Welcome to my world; I write as the chair of Lea Valley CC and a bureacrat of 19 years.
Club constituitions- there are , I think , some draft ones on line that you should be able to download and amend.
Some of rules will be must do's others are disrcetional. As in all things you should aim to keep it simple. Don't have rules that won't work in practice - quoracy for example .
Record keeping. You need to formally note that you have met, who was present and what was agreed. Again, the simpler the better.
Think about what powers the officers need to run the club and what delegated authority they might require. The club will need a chair, secretary and a treasurer.
Membership , that's probably one of your most important decisions. The attendees are effectively the founding members, that is they are people who have come together to found the club and who are setting out what the club's intentions are. I would imagine you need to agree a process to turn this long list of the "interested" into members. The appointment of a club secretary will be a key appointment.
happy to provide advice off line. -

I think it would be useful to discuss/clarify at 1st meeting just what would be required from each role before people commit.

Chairing the first meeting.
To get the officers elected you need some one to chair the first meeting and get business done. This may be the last meeting they chair.
Officers should be nominated and preferably seconded. If there are more than one nomination for a post then an election should be held. Ideally, people who want to stand should say why and why they feel they are suitable.

I think it would be useful to discuss/clarify at 1st meeting just what would be required from each role before people commit.
Ideally people should volunteer to take on one of the roles. It would be great if we knew in advance that people will be putting themselves forward for a role on the committee.
I would suggest that if people want to be on the committee they would have some idea of what is involved. Have a look here:-
http://www.cffc.co.uk/assets/membersfiles/1317827590~Governance%20-%20Committee.pdf if you might be interested but unsure about what the roles entail.
I would expect there are plenty of people out there who have done something similar.
As Peter said we need to go through the process and nominating and seconding people or voting for people, but we need to know who those people are first. -

Yes, brief JDs for these roles would be good . Ideally, they should match the description of the role in the draft consitiution. As I said, keep it manageable and simple.
You may not need to hold a formal vote on some decisions but the chair should always establish what the consensus is and that members did agree to a proposal. Otherwise trouble comes at the next meeting....

I have booked the Goldsmith on Southwark Bridge road.
We have the private dining room upstairs from 6:45pm onwards. If I can guarantee a booking of 10 or more people, there won't be any charge and the booking will be firm. Please add your name to the list below if you are attending.
Most other venues I tried were either too small, no beer, upfront charge of around £100 or a minimum spend of £300+
What do people think of this venue? The dining room can of course be configured any way you like and you can get food and drink from the bar downstairs.
