Place in Stockport is getting a decent rep at the mo. Doesn't have every colour but still decent choice. 01fix1 facebook page has number and such (typing on phone) or ask Lukas

Other place was Stockport Powder Coating but I don't think they do wet work.

Very surprised that Atlantic can hopefully do this at short notice...
Will feed back on completion...

i thought you could get a clear powder coat finish to give a wet look
like a lacquer really after a paint job -

Neil at Atlantic is a good bloke, bloody lovely work as well, my old boss knew him for yeeeears and he's sorted me out a few times with frame repairs.

Im gonna try spraying mine with a really little compressor and spray gun and some 2k paint. finish isn't going to be the best but hopefully a little better than powder coat. should cost about £40 on paint and stripper.

I'll strip for less.

Well happy... less than 48 hour turn around and an excellent finish by Atlantic Boulevard...
-
• #11
Fucking hell that's lush. Neil's doing 48Hr turnarounds?
-
• #12
How much was it?
-
• #13
It was fast turnaround as it was a simple job.
Frame was already stripped to bare metal and just needed paint.
Also had the rear brake hole deleted by Neil.Give him a call... his prices are competitive with other refinishers including Argos and Cromaworks.
I went with Neil through convenience and great service. The excellent finish was an even bigger bonus! Its currently being built...

thats the visp? I'd say the painting cost more than the frame. Last time I called like 3 years ago I was quoted around £120 i think that's including collection and delivery.

Yep top end of your estimate Ribblekid, but the frame fabrication style was exactly what I wanted, and the total price was far far less than a custom built steel frame I had been quoted weeks before.
Completed build pictures are on the fixedgears.biz facebook page... just built today by them.

Well not everyone can like or want the same stuff.
I am happy with it and its exactly what I wanted. The whole bike cost not much more than a custom frame.
Yes it is steel... and pretty light too...

Looks alright that.

Hi
Just wondered if anyone knows a properly decent painter who can sort my frame at short notice in the Manc area.
Not bothered about Atlantic Boulevard and don't have time to deal with couriers for Argos or Mercian etc... would prefer to just drop the frame with someone one day/evening. Happy to pay premium prices, but must be good quality.
Already searched and seen the powdercoat threads etc, but I'm after a decent high gloss wet paint finish.
Anyone know anyone who can sort it with some careful masking of head tube and bottom bracket etc.
Prep will be minimum as its currently bare metal and only needs basic prep.
Cheers...
