  • Thought it might be worth while starting a thread for folk who would like more information or are interested in purchasing one further down the line.

Few things to iron out first.

Skream Bikes got in touch with me to do some promotional material (promo video & Photoshoot) in exchange for a frame and some parts.

They haven't paid me to promote the brand or anything along those lines so this is purely informative and I hope that's what comes across. I thought it could be a potential option for those who want to spend a little more and get something a step up from the Mielec - sure you don't have the custom geo or colour but the welds, track ends and general build quality appear to be better quality when compared to the Mielecs I've seen.

Original cost: Frame, Fork, Headset, seat clamp - $540 (£319)

    Spec -
Fork : Carbon With Aluminum Steerer Tapered 1-1/8" Aero Fork
    Size : XS | S | M | L | XL (C-T)
Tube : Triple Butted 6061-T6 Aluminium Tube
    Estimated Frame Weight : 1400g (M)
Bottom Bracket Threading : BSA BB 68mm (English)
    Seatpost Diameter : Ø 31,6 mm
Head Set : Alloy Integrated 1-1/8" Head Set Ø 41,8 mm

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Here we go...

Today I got things moving and installed the crown race and cut the steerer.

Here's a few photos of the frame.

  • I don't think this is just 'better'. It looks way above the mielec where quality is concerned. The quality of the alu is no compare for starters. I think this ought to be compared to a mash but for half the price and decent color ways ...

  • It comes across as a sales pitch.

Yeah you're maybe right. Mielec's serve there purpose and I'm certainly not shunning them etc.

As mentioned, that wasn't my intension JB!

Is that bad even if it was? I was aware that this is a bike forum and the above is a bike build.

Not a fan of the colour scheme, but count me curious about the company/bike overall.

  • I didn't say it was a bad thing.

  • neat welds in the close-ups. haven't heard of them. do they have no UK distributors at present?

  • Not massively keen on the name or paint but can't really fault the tubing and those welds - seems like a bargain in comparison to similar frames you could get.

    How does it ride?

Also, can we see the promotional material you've been involved in or what?

  • If it just came in raw I reckon it could look alright. The Nu-rave paintjob is doing it zero favours.

Yeah I don't mind the frame decals, the Skream is a little bold though. The forks aren't to my taste, remind me off a Klaxons video or something along those lines.

Not as far as i'm aware - Ali, one of the owners, has told me their market will predominantly be Asia but they will ship overseas and see what the interest is like.

Haven't ridden it just yet but as soon as I do i'll let you know. A lot of of people are asking a comparison between the Low// and this.

I don't see why not, i'll begin preparing myself for the trolls haha. The shoot is set for sometime in March - The brand is more fixeh then fixed gear as I assume you might have guessed. Although I'm still pretty impressed with the build quality and i'll be throwing this around the Yorkshire hills for a while so i'll see how it holds up.

Yeah I guess it always a cheaper option to get the frame and san it raw like TM did with his Mash?

  • I built it up last night. Bare with the photos, i'll do better ones over the weekend.

  • @TP88

I thin they just need better branding, the painjob and name make it look like a cheap mass market rip-off compared to say like a LOW's slickness.

You should hook them up with a decent designer to re-do at least their logo and some less violent paint, frame deserves more and would make it a million more times legit.

  • ^ This x100. Dem grafix r gash.

  • Yeh paintjob is awful. Tp88 you gonna raw it up when your done with the promo work? What the geo like do they have a chart online and what size is yours?

Yeah I agree but given their focus is asia I could imagine this kind of paint job going down well there but we'll see. I have fed that back already though.

I might do, we'll see, I don't want to tread on any toes since I've got the frame and parts for free. Not to mention them covering expenses for the photographer and videographer so for the minute it will stay as is.

Mine is an XL frame - 57 CTC. Kinda shoot them selves in the foot with such small sizing from a global perspective I suppose but for their market place I guess it's fitting!

  • Thanks, yeh you might have to grit your teeth and wait a bit before changing the paintjob, on the plus side though I think now that you've got a chinese frame company giving you frames and parts I think you officially qualify as '#fixiefamous' lol. Whatever happened to the Northrace blog, I enjoyed reading it, but did it just not get off the ground, or is it on hiatus?

    Cheers haha.

The North Race served it's purpose but I've decided to move on to my own thing - The Broken line. It's currently just sitting as a generic tumblr whilst the website's being built. Got some exciting things in the pipe line with the likes of Trakke, DSC and some video projects further down this year! It'll be the same kind of stuff I used to post on TNR but only I'll have full control of the direction of the blog etc.

  • They're significantly longer than a Mash, geo-wise.

Not good for the T-rex team

  • The North Race will be born again!

Tim is off to do his own thing, in the meanwhile, TNR will return with fresh content and sick skidz....

  • Like the SKREAM too, paint's a bit much for me, maybe in my younger days... but welds and geo etc look great.

  • Everyones already said it but the paintjob ruins it for me, good graphics would set it right off.

  • I like it.

Despite being too old. I fancey a hipster sled to replace my noodly BJ.

  • That looks like a nice, well made frame but, as others have said, ugly branding.

It'll probably do quite well in the market it's aimed at though.

  • Would ride ...with new paint job.

    #popularopinion

  • Matte black, take off the colourful lines - well nice
