Done it a few times.
Ride straight to Newhaven on this side then go on the Avenue Verte via Gournay en Bray.Dead easy riding.
Bike friendly Hotel Swan in Gournay en Bray and used Etaps in Paris and Dieppe.
In Paris we just took the bikes in to the hotel, Dieppe had a special room. -

I did it the other way on a lightish road bike, with a small bar bag and 10L backpack. Donald Hirsch route Paris to Dieppe. Ferry Dieppe to Newhaven (www.dfdsseaways.fr/traversees/dieppe-newhaven/#.UvjizPl5PpU). Coastal road (A259) Newhaven to Brighton, then there are several London to Brighton routemaps online. 1 day UK, 2 days France (though the France bit can be 1.5 days).
Watch out for most shops being closed on Sundays, afternoons especially. Stayed at Les Chambres de l'Abbaye in Saint Germer de Fly, they've got a small building just off the front drive to put you bikes in.
PM me if you have any questions about Paris. -

The riding is easy enough to do it in one hit if you really want to travel light. I did it with a mate last year and we posted our bags to our hotel in paris.
Bike looks a bit laden, but that's both of our rain coats tied to the saddle bag.

Attempted L2P<24hrs on the Dover-Calais ferry route last year. We travelled very light (spare tubes, repair kit, energy food). We (or more accurately I) bonked at Amiens c2:30am. Lessons were; pacing, eating, taking it easy and accurate timings are all important. Plus don't be fixing your bike at 2:00am the night before you leave. Basically all of the hotels we called were happy to take us in, and store our bikes when we eventually called it a day.

This.
Ride to Portsmouth in the afternoon, overnight ferry with boozehead motorcyclists, disembark with said boozehead motorcyclists who charge off into the French countryside in spite of the fact they've been up all night boozing.
The ride to Paris is pleasant enough and should see you there in time for an afternoon beer.
Hi All
I'm trying to organise a trip from London to Paris over a long weekend. It'll be for 2-3 people and ideally we would be using our lighter carbon bikes instead of our touring bikes with racks/panniers.
Wondering if anyone has done this trip stopping off at small B&Bs instead of camping (so we don't have to carry a tent) if so, which ones do you recommend which is safe for the bikes? Not keen on bringing heavy locks if we don't have to. Really just want to take as little as possible.
Probably just have a small rucksack for some clothes. We'll be meeting our other halves in Paris so they'll have the rest of our luggage.
Look forward to hearing the suggestions - cheers
