Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I remember a conversation with Josh ages ago at SE drinks where he explained his forum name. He had been given a bike for free, either by a french person or it was a french bike, not sure, so he chose "free bike" in french as a pseudo. But the translation "velo libre" was slightly mistaken as it doesn't mean the bike was for free but that it was free (as in freedom), which was quite a nice, fortunate and poetic mistake.
RIP Josh -

Jesus fuck. When I saw him back in London I thought maybe he was on the up again. His unique take on life will be missed.
Which pub was it he worked at? I would like to be there. -

This is so sad. Josh started out on the forum as hostilejosh and one of the first conversations we had was at EHBPC 2009, when I suggested to him to change his username. I met him a surprising number of times at drinks compared to how I always felt I didn't really know him. I last saw him at London's Calling last year and remember that meeting well, too, especially for that strange feeling of desolation that I can't put my finger on, but you never expect suicide.

A pub in his home town will be after his funeral.
Will have some funny (bizarre/disturbing) Josh stories up later because that's how I want to remember him.

Sad news indeed, I only met him once or twice, but it was enough to make an impression.
Very sorry for every who knew him.
"It doesn't matter what you ride as long as you ride like a king..." Josh, circa 2010
Really struggling to put this together, not sure what to say. Josh passed away on Tuesday. For those that knew he was brilliant, bordering on savant but ultimately very troubled.
I have spoken to his father who has said he'll be having an open funeral and you are all welcome:
St Mary's Church, Walberton 21st February 2:30pm
Followed by a wake in the pub Josh worked in.
Really struggling to eulogise the kid, and I know he only deserved the best words, so when I can articulate how I feel about him a bit better I will have more to say. Often misunderstood and mostly by himself.
He took his own life. A lot of people have been asking me how? I don't know how, I don't want to know and I'm not going to ask. Don't know how this information would benefit you (maybe offer some closure I guess) but please don't ask me.
He liked himself some Geto Boys so if you're going to play something for him, let it be this.

I love you Josh, I really wish I could have helped. Thanks you taught me a lot. I am so sorry
