Easy man.
The stadium itself is located on Falmer Campus of the university. As such, there's quite a few Sheffield stands and whatnot that will be free - I used to live on that campus too, so I can confirm that even of a night-time, it's pretty ghosty - I would feel comfortable leaving anything there for a few hours. If not, leaving it at the train station may be easier in terms of access (there are sometimes guards preventing fans from entering the main campus grounds for obvious reasons) as well as the ease of picking up the cycle route into town
Route wise, finding it to start with may be remotely tricky but once you're on it, it's 1 straight road from the stadium to Old Steine/the pier, which is about half a mile South East of the Station. I'll assume you can get from the pier to your hotel.
You wanna follow the crowd to the train station and get over to the A27 side of the station - that'll be the side of the station the stadium is NOT on. Go under the dual carriageway through the subway, and as you come back up on the other side there is a left turn-off before the trees start. Pick this up, and this is the start of the route that will get you back to town. You have to switch back over to the regular side of the road, it's up to you where you do this, but you need to be on the left side of the road by the time the dedicated cycle lane begins. It's about 6-7km from this point to the seafront.
Oh and if you've not ridden Lewes Road before, the cycle lanes go BEHIND the bus stop - caught me out first time

Thanks Ollie G - really comprehensive, if reasonable weather should be down early to check on route, parking in daylight. Don't really fancy queueing for the train. Want to have a few pints after the game. Thanks again

No worries.
If you're not gonna be dressed as a football fan, tell any guards that try to restrict your access to the campus that you're a student and that you live in Paddock Field, it's normally enough to get you access if they are restricting it

For beers, if you like keg and cask ale check out the Brighton Cask on Upper North Street. Evening Star is good but will be rammed and probably only serving in plastic due to sodding footie fans...

Did the Brighton Cask? Craft Beer Company? before the game and Evening Star after. Good recommendations. Glad I had the Brompton it would have been terrible waiting for the train. Managed to get to the Evening Star by 5 past 10, a little damp but thirsty.
Thanks to you both.

Sweet. :)
Hi all,
Coming down for the football on a night match. Will have the Brompton. Good places to lock at the Amex? and roads/path back to the Brighton Station area where my Hotel is.
TIA
