  • Welcome to the 2014 Herne Hill Track league thread!

    From Iain Cook from VCL:

There is a new accreditation system at HHV for 2014. Full details http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/sessions_and_training/session_pathway/index.html

All adult riders and youth riders wishing to take part in adult sessions and race with seniors at track league will have to pass the relevant sessions.

For existing track league riders there will be sessions which combine both stages, you should book on to one of these now. http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/racing_events/track_racing/track_league/full_track_league_accreditation/index.html

Lots of the senior riders have but older youth's havent, so get on it.

  • thanks for posting that - I hadn't realised you could do both in one go. Hat tip to VCL/HH for making it much cheaper for existing riders to get this sorted.

  • Cheers Vince, booked in for the 29th March

  • you back from Germany by then?

  • Until the client gives a long enough contract to look for an apartment, it looks like i'm commuting to germany monday to friday for the forseeable future :/

  • Cheers Vince, booked for the 5th March, will be nice to get back on the track and lose some of the love handles

  • Thanks for the heads up, anything that reduces the chance of a pile up is welcome.

  • 2 weeks to go...

  • has anyone done the combined accreditation yet? Does it include a warm up? Or do you need to be warmed up and ready to go at 7.30?

  • None of the session is particularly strenuous; definitely nothing at race pace. For me, the biggest issue was doing the final exercise (1/2 lap sprints on the whistle) on cold legs.

It's geared much more towards whether you'd be safe in a race, than whether you'd be any good.

you're free to ride around from 7pm. it's not a race, make sure you look over your shoulder, listen to coaches, be aware etc.

  • Really hope to take part in league this year, was really slack last year but hopefully all the stars are aligning.

  • thanks guys. Based on how my legs felt on the commute today I'm glad the efforts won't be hard - although based on how bloody freezing it was on Monday I might have to pop home and get some overshoes if it's going to be slow :)

  • Are you doing it tonight, what time?

  • 7.30. Nervous. Dunno why...

  • Because it's an exam, and normal people get nervous before exams.

  • I'm not normal, as I wasn't nervous at all. Just happy to be back on track.

  • you not been over the winter dimi?

  • No, first time this year.

  • My accreditation is this Sunday, but I've forgotten what time :s

My RiderHQ entry says 3pm, but the HHV website has bookings for 12pm that day. Are there two sessions?

  • I received an email with all info a day before, you probably will get the same.

  • I didn't!

  • Did you pass, Dan?

  • Bish please

  • (yes I did)

    ;)

Couple of experienced riders in my group didn't though.
