Yes a little more info would be useful, are competent fixed ideas with brakes allowed to join in?
-

Indra, "competent" would rule you out!

the go from the red bike shop on st pauls road.as regards to pace i will try and put up some strava stuff tomorrow morn. we tend to average between 25 and 30 kpm but thats with red lights and traffic.
i would say you would probably struggle alot riding fixed unless you are a very strong rider.

here is last weeks ride. normally they will be a bit faster than this but we had very bad weater and two new guys on this ride.

fairly similar pace to when i rode fixed to Brighton last Saturday, but the weather was not too bad except a head wind. though no fucking way I could keep up with you descending at 50mph if were riding fixed

Same for me, while the average speed isn't a problem, descending I find it hard to get past around 38mph on a reasonable road gear.

I think you've both got the wrong idea. :)

^ That's the best place to start.
Also Lea Bridge Rd is, in my opinion, a better way to get out of town [but still not particularly nice].
we do a road ride from our bike shop in highbury every tuesday. we meet at 6 and leave at about 6.30. we normally do about 50-60 km. if you are interested in joining us let me know. riders should be able to keep a good pace for a couple of hours.
