Lets get this show on the road, this weeks segment is everyones favourite post dyke road, namely Shaves Wood Lane:
http://www.strava.com/segments/3260668
3.3km, little bit of up and down, quiet safe road that you can blast along.
There are already a bunch of us on the leaderboards, currently I can see Danny aka specialegg is winning.
So this starts on Monday 20th to Sunday 26th.
I made a 'club' on Strava so we can see where exactly we place with the rest of us on here: LGFSS By The Sea
If you can post up your best time and let the games begin.

I'm in.

Fixed only or any bike?
-
• #5
^ Good point
-
• #6
Either but you're unlikely to trouble the top times unless you break out the track gearing.

Just because my fixed is pretty much only a commuter/town bike at the mo so anything out of the city centre I'd naturally opt for the roadie instead
That's fair enough Elvis, I'm not a competitive cyclist so I'll just enjoy going as fast as I can :)

Sorry, that wasn't meant to sound aggy!
I only ride fixed in the winter so I won't be going for the win either!
-
• #9
I say whatever you want. If you can go faster riding fixed then do it!

Nah I know you wasn't! Just pre-empting my horrendous results that will follow.
I've now signed up to Strava, cannot believe I didn't know about it before. Best app ever

-
• #16
Was out and about of the seafront to Newhaven and back along A27 to Lewes.
However I was in the car, did feels sad seeing all the cyclists enjoying the perfect weather.

Olle Akesson: 5.52

Absolutely gorgeous ride this morning but I'll have to try harder tomorrow - that 4:22 time is going to take some beating.
Still getting used to Strava though, not sure how I get different times on Wickwoods Road North which seems to be exactly the same segment?

Yeah it depends on your tech?
I just use an iPhone 4S, it's on O2 so service is normally decent but it skipped a lot over the route in and around Preston Park
Plus, the Stony Mere Way sprint up by campus is lead by dubious handful of seconds
-
• #21
A smidge faster today at 5:45, I'll have one last go on Friday.
-
• #22
12mph tailwind along there tomorrow
-
• #23
That's me in line for a hot sub-10 minute run
-
• #24
This is a great idea Neil!
Food for thought if this picks up...
Here's the link to the club that does SOTW. It's changed a lot in the last year due to the clubs popularity hens why theres 4 divisions now - something that could be introduced if this picks up!
If anything it just makes me get out more haha!

12mph tailwind along there tomorrow
And pouring rain :(
So in the alley cat thread I mentioned doing a 'segment of the week' using Strava.
The way it will work is as follows:
Week starts on a Monday, ends on a Sunday.
You post your fastest time from that week.
If you are the fastest then you get to choose the following segment.
Ideally its just a bit of fun where you might push yourself that little bit harder and also might find some new roads to ride down. Let's try and keep the roads kinda local at this point in time. There is no need to choose a segment in Hastings. Also lets try and choose safe roads, no crazy downhills or routes with traffic lights.
