  • Hi there, as I'm new on the forum I'm to shy to open two different threads for to different projects, should I ?

    First one, Gunnar Crosshairs :

Right here right now here it is

    I ordered :
    x2
    to avoid shuddering

    34c x 2
    36/48

    What I need :
A crankset, Sram Force 22 ? I want an exern BB

    Wheels :
I think about Archetype with White Ind t11 (non proprietary bearings, titanium freehub body = good investment ?)

Pacenti sl23 look great but cost twice the Hplus.

Being on a budget right now, I'll ride mavic cosmos.

Any idea for the cassette ? 11-28 ?
    And what SPDs ?

    SEROTTA tri colorado

    I need
an affordable JIS BB 107 or 108 for a middleburn RS2 crank 55/44 chainrings
Compact handlebars (Soma HWY one or bontys)
Quill stem -5 or -6 degrees, but does it exist ?
    A saddle (prologo zero pas)

Eventually a carbon tubular 650c wheelset

    That's all

  • oh man, that serotta is hot in its 90s (?) weirdness/excentrity!

  • Oof, like the Gunnar - good component choices too in my opinion.

I don't know anything about the frame, but just googled it and was frankly surprised at the number of horribly ugly builds out there. Yours looks set to be nicer.

  • Sweet frames!

  • Nice gaf.

  • Rad bikes. Look forward to the updates.

  • lose the death mags.

  • Multi grooves don't take it bad but I don't understand what you wrote. Maybe death mags is English humor about the full black Gunnar ?

  • I think it might be a reference to the wheels on the Serotta. The spinergy four spoke wheels have a tendency to die catastrophically, which was remedied for a new model by drilling holes in the carbon fibre, and pinning them, which obviously concentrates the stress on 8 small holes, arguably making the problem even worse!

  • I think he's referring to the wheels, which have something of a habit of exploding.

  • Damn.

  • Ah.
No problem with the spynergy, I ride them on my daily, jumping over the pavement without any problems. Some used them for cyclocross. The problem with the internet is that you only hear the bad but never the good, they're pretty strong wheels, at least mine in 650.

  • ^theyre reflective!?!? Few, panic over guys

Seriously though being 650c would probably help too

That serotta paint job is so cool though, headset blends perfectly too

  • don't take Archetype you need some good bande de freinage ; )

    nices project's

Waahaaa the depth wheels ; /

  • Maybe I should save money for the pacenti then. I read here that archetype were absorbing water, so probably not the best choice for a CX touring bike.

I just found wheels for the serotta ! 650 corima !

  • really cool dude !!!

    H plus son>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Pacenti sl23 look great but cost twice the Hplus.

Being on a budget right now, I'll ride mavic cosmos.

Other option are the Velocity A23, or the stronger wider Mavic A319.

I read here that archetype were absorbing water.

    Seemed legit.

  • Mavic are too heavy. I thought about A23 in the past, however after building a wheelset with 650 aerohead, I can say I'm not satisfied with velocity's quality, lot of shit in the spoke holes, poor rim joint.

  • Rims width make a bigger difference than an extra 100g, the difference is very hard to notice when riding.

Can understand what you mean about Velocity, very light rims but not as tough as A319.

  • With a 38 tire clearance, I prefer 100 grams less and a little more profiled rim, after all it's just 0.8mm between mavic and pacenti.

  • Hi, really lost with the crankset offer right now.
I'd like a light one, outer cups system, no square taper etc.

Two piece crankset (cranks + star), might be more failure-able than regular ones right ? I think about cracking sounds for example.
However the future new CX1 seems to be a two-piece one :

I think those look stronger :

    Any advice ?

  • Wahou the Serotta is almost done ! Finally I opted for shimano (105 brifters, DA derailleurs) and sold the sram red groupset. 90° salsa stem + soma hwy one compact handlebars, looking for the same setup for the gunnar.

Gunnar will be campy geared finally

  • Regarding the pacentis, drop me a pm about them, I'm going to be putting in an order from bikehubstore and they're cheeaapp over there
