Yeah, bit of an oversight. I've got a nice bright blue Harrington and some full length epic trousers, plus some of the merino, it's all very good.
Watch the arm length on some of the stuff though.

My vulpine trousers performed rather well this morning too. I did find they won't stand up to sitting on a soggy saddle but that it asking a bit much, and other than that footnote I've been seriously impressed by them

Not keen on the colour palettes of their apparel.

Agreed on the colours. Could also do without the little rear pocket on the t-shirts, though I'm sure others find it useful. Found the merino wool a little itchy for a short while, but having been worn and washed a bunch of times it's now okay.

Was cycling to work this morning thinking how glad I was to be wearing one of their storm caps. Excellent bit of kit.

Figaro - 'Apparel' is a shit word. A Nike kind of word. They're clothes. Garments if you must. Call a spade a spade.
I'd be interested to see just how well Epic does retain it's proofing over 200 washes.
I bought a Ventile jacket from Hilltrek about four or five years ago. It's still waterproof. Cost about the same. Not as hip looking as this version of the Harrington. I'm considering asking Hilltrek to make a cycle cape from Ventile, it's such an amazing fabric. My wax cape is so heavy and requires reproofing. And the wax collects dirt. The details need a few improvements too.
If Epic really does do well after that time I'd be impressed. I have to say I'm impressed by the Harrington overall. Could do without the logos.

I bought a bunch of stuff at a charity cycling auction, the jackets are nice with good details.
Like their merino stuff too.

One of the appeals of the garment (if I must) is the choice of the Epic Cotton. It's not a coating of the finished material. It's a fiber encapsulation method of treating the base threads. Quite cool actually and not something that is supposed to wear away or need retreatment.

Yeah, I read Vulpine's explanation of their choice to use it, it looks great. Just don't really believe in treatment of fabrics (goretex anybody) so I was really just wondering how believable the hype is.
In other news, I puked all over my left arm while riding last friday, the Ventile just washed off fine though.

/not derailing honest

No. It's fine. I'll try and puke on my arm the way home for comparison purposes.
Science!
-
• #13
Yeah! IPA puke for proper falsifiable results.
I might vom on a Waffa jacket too.

Yes, I was thinking of / referring to your reply to the Vulpine rep in another thread when I typed that. Sorry.

Any of LFGSS ladies got a pair of these shorts?
-
• #18
I don't know her.
-
• #19
Are those the waterproof ones?
-
• #20
Yeah.

I've been harassing them to make 3/4 length fixeh-skiddar shorts using the same material. No luck so far.
I am still really pleased with my Harrington jacket BTW. The material is great. (Skully's cynicism of nanotech aside.)
Ask on the Ladies threads perhaps?

^ Me too for the 3/4 shorts. Via twitter and a survey they did last month. Such an obvious product I can't understand why they've not made any yet. Short shorts for cycling are just silly, for grown men at any rate.
Swrve changed their design a couple of years ago and I'm not a fan of the newer ones. Might have to start considering Rapha unless Vulpine pull their finger out.

The Rapha touring shorts are good but only in warmer weather, 3/4 for the rest of the time. Neither are waterproof however. Given the dearth of Rapha London sample sales, when mine all die I will be faced with some difficult choices.

how did the Swrve design change? I was thinking of getting another pair.

Fashion.
In a good way.
Good on them for not encouraging 3/4 trouser uptake.
Strangely there doesn't seem to be a specific thread for Vulpine. We seem to have a thread for every other clothing maker but nor sure why Vulpine don't seem to get any attention.
I picked up one of their Harrington rain jackets over the holidays and rode in this morning through the torrential rain and wind.
Finally after 7 years commuting in London I can finally say that. I now have an absolutely and completely waterproof jacket that did not leave me sweating buckets underneath. Ha ha ha! Fuck you rain!
Epic cotton indeed. Amazing garment that lives up to my expectations. Now if only they would make some 3/4 length epic cotton rain trousers I would be happy indeed.
