  • Moved out to the states at the end of August and could only bring one bike thou picked up a few more on the way. Current stable.

However I still do not have a road bike for long miles so I came across an ok condition landshark done a bit of research seems a pretty sweet lone wolf guy. So why not.

All being well come monday this should be in my possesion.

The parts list is a mix for 600 and some other name I am not familar with. (can be seen in first pic)

Asked the seller for the drop out width, plan will be to put something a bit more modern on it (the dt shifters are going) and fancy up the wheels. Perhaps something like Zondas or Shamals.

Asthectics, I'm thinking a white trubo, would white thickslicks result in do not pass go do not collect 200dollars go straight to anti?

  • Nice frameset!

Please forget about white tires, black or tan wall depending on the rest of the build

  • I reckon you could get away with white wall but white tyres are generally wrong IMO. Definitely white Turbo though.

  • The rest of the groupset you mention is Shimano Sante, coveted by some. "Introduced after the Aero style components in the mid 1980s, Sante was positioned below Dura Ace and above Ultegra 600. This group was intended to be a stylish semi Pro level package."

The bike looks excellent. I would give it an overhaul, stick some tanwalls and decent pedals on it but otherwise wouldn't change a thing and just ride the hell out of it. Saddles are always personal but in my experience white ones quickly get dirty and look poor.

  • shame it dosent have some of the more wild landshark paint work. But seriously, give it a good going through but id leave the group alone.

cheers for the info pleasantly suprised by that :)

Overall a good pickup then, will still want to switch out the dt shifter. Thou goodness knows where I am going to pickup some rsx shifters if it's 7speed.

Yeah it's defo one of the more reserved LandSharks but picked it up for a nice price complete and just my size at 56cm. Could maybe pick up some lime green fade tape but could be total anti.

You guys say good going over, I assume:
Check and grease, HS(I know this already needs serviced) BB
    Check wheel cones
    Brake tension

    Anything else to watch for?

  • ...Anything else to watch for?
Yeah, anyone trying to put white tyres on it! :) Srsly, that looks like a good buy.

I'd give the white saddle a miss too, for practical and aesthetic reasons (too matchy-matchy), but keep the white tape.

Any reason not to keep the DTS? If you've not used them before, they are a piece of piss and you will quickly be making super slick shifts. It will also save a lot of ball ache trying to find STi.

  • I'm building up a cheap alu road bike atm and had an old steel Raleigh that I wanted to move everything from. Didn't find RSX shifters hard to find at all on the 'bay. Good build too, very little plastic.
Dunno if it makes much difference being in the states though?
